Definitely not an uppercut. The punches I usually dish out are straight. Her hand looks like it's open in the aftermath, also, and nobody suddenly opens their hand after a punch. I can't, in all my years of punching people in the face, call that a punch. That makes me wonder. Oi Rey, did they call it a slap or a punch in the Japanese? That way I know who to blame for this massive fuckup (animators or localizers). Punching isn't even that hard to animate with current systems of 3d animation given you know what a punch really looks like. But I guess if the jpn version wanted to do her slapping with a fist that at least makes more sense than calling something that uses slapping motions as a punch. @video See, that's a proper punch. Sumia had a good strong slap in the ingame animation, but it ain't a punch. So that's probably the animators' fault, then. Goddamn animators. Past a certain point, everything you enjoy becomes repetitive, vapid and meaningless. The beginning and middle mean something because they have endings. Put intuitively, we do not appreciate what we had as much as we do the second we lose it. The longer we have it, the less we value it.
