it's the fate of old things to die and be replaced by the new, eh?

this actually reminded me of a chinese movie, "curse of the golden flower", which is about an empress and three princes conspiring separately to take down their husband/father

they all fail

so no, not necessarily - only if/when the new is good enough

i know

some are more than others

let's take trails of cold steel 1 and 2

1 has a prologue, a six chapters that follow the exact. same. formula, and then an epilogue

2 starts with a first chapter that accomplishes something you expected to take half the game to happen, followed by an (weird) intermission, a rather free-roaming chapter 2, and then an epilogue

i consider tocs 1 one of the worst in the series, and 2 one of the best

anyway stuff like dungeons being always the same, skills being always the same, monsters being always the same, etc.

i'm seeing too many reviews complaining about that

Hm, I see.

Yet, still, I personally feel that repetition shouldn't be a negative when it comes to games because every game has a different form of it.

Fair enough

My dad had a subscription to Playboy.

Fair enough

i've been playing this mmo for 7 months already, if i were to say all repetition is unacceptable i'd be clinically insane

there are different kinds and levels of repetition, different forms of mitigating/disguising it, and different levels of personal tolerance

My dad had a subscription to Playboy.

this reminds me

the game magazines i used to buy only made subscription models available after they had already become obsolete

brazilian capitalism, ho

Meanwhile, there are no game magazines in my country since 2010 ;_;

they fell from relevance around here in the end of the 90's

monthly magazines died in early 00's

they don't realize i'm an oldman

the fact some of them are apparently older than i am doesn't help
