It's a reboot of the universe, not necessarily a reboot of part 1. They take place around the same time period, I guess, but that's the extent of it; only such vague similarities. I wouldn't call it a reboot of part 1. EDIT: iirc it wasn't even intended to be JoJo at first, but Araki later connected it with JoJo. Probably at the suggestion of an editor or some such. EDIT: For an example that...thing...is supposed to be his body. Not clothing or anything. His actual body. Manga is much better, but I can still see people not liking the manga as much as the other two parts. i've heard the anime is pretty much a page for page adaption though?
