You couldn't finish the game, unless you're lucky enough and they are in range of Zaxon, which means they could get killed by Daccar. That yellow mage near Sailane would block your path. Well, I heard if Cuan and his homies managed to defeat Trabant and his gang, he'd reach Phinora and die, along with Ethlin and his remaining troops. I didn't test it, though.
