Considering how shininess was calculated differently in GSC than it is now, I wouldn't be surprised if shiny female magikarps/gyarados really didn't exist back then. I wished I had 2 opposide gender Shinies of the same egg group, but my Rapidash couldn't lay an egg from a Gyarados, a Hypno or a Dodrio...
