*Mass applause*

Seriously, if what he did was so bad, then Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi should be held accountable for the shit they pulled when Bush was in office. Especially since they did FAR worse than Wilson.

*Awaits obligatory "Republican Propagandist" replies from Death and Revan*

In context it was an insult to the institution of the Presidency, thus different from any criticism of the president himself or his policies.

No, in context it was calling the President out on the bullshit he'd been spewing that entire speech. I wanted to shout the EXACT same thing, to. Wilson just happened to be on the Senate floor when he shouted it, which does technically break protocol.

And as far as insults to the institution of the Presidency go, Reid and Pelosi did a number of their own durring Bush's term, most of which FAR worse. Nothing ever happened to the because of it.

Not that I don't believe you, but can I have specific examples?

Certainly. Reid'll need a little digging, though.

...In an interview on CNN. Rather different than what Wilson did. Bush being a total failure also seems to have at least some truth to it. Not a fan of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, or for that matter the the cult of the presidency in general, but I don't see how this worse than Wilson did.

Wilson did nothing more than call out the president on a lie. In the middle of a speech, but considering that what the speech itself was...

And again, it did have truth to it. There were so many blatant lies in that speech it made me want to puke.

Didn't he, like, TRIPLE the nation's debt?

The deficit. And THEN he proceeded to hand wave it and tell everyone that the recession is over.

I find it sad that Obama has been in office for about 1/10 of the time Bush has been, and he's already managed to increase deficit for stuff that will probably be rendered ineffective.

Who wants to carpool to Canada?

Canada isn't much better. Though they may be when Obama's done turning America into the Union of American Socialist States...

Please, do you know anything about Economics that you didn't hear on Fox News?

Anyway, I'm sure you have some proof that the deficit has tripled and will show me the numbers, because I know even you wouldn't be so stupid as to claim something with absolutely no backup.

Government spending is a fairly effective way at getting out of a recession. It may sound odd, but it has a history of working well. You may also notice that it has been working this time around too. I'm sure Keynes is not a perfect explanation for recessions, nor the only solution, but it would be difficult to deny that it has at least some positives. Halting all Government spending would have likely led to a much worse scenario. When he was saying that the recession was over, he wasn't really exaggerating that much. The worst is probably behind us.

Your stunning ignorance of everything astounds me. In Canada, Obama is Right of Centre. Yes, let me repeat that, the majority of educated Canadians believe that Obama is Right of Center. If you believe that even the slightest bit of socialist SEEMING policies are evil, you would hate Canada. President Obama will never make the United States more "Socialist" than Canada is.

We've had "socialized medicine", without a doubt since 1984, and it was slowly phased in since 1946 in some areas. The man most Canadians regard as the father of our modern Healthcare, Tommy Douglas, was voted the Greatest Canadian of all time by the public. The majority of Canadians support our Health care system.

An this isn't even going into the many, many different social programs our nation has enacted. We even managed to run a surplus under Jean Chrétien's Liberals, that only got ruined once the Conservatives came into power.

So Nishi, you are full of shit. Don't say "Canada isn't much better than Obamafied US", say "Canada is much worse than Obamafied US". Not only do you not know what you're talking about when you say that all these things are awful and will destroy us, you're not even aware of what happens in other countries.

PS. You still didn't really point out where he outright lied, other than the fact that he made vague statements like "The recession is over".

And to clarify, I don't super love Obama or anything. I wish he would actually do something instead of trying to be bipartisan about everything. I would prefer if he went "Fuck the Right, I'll do it live", but he's actually listening to you guys.

I wasn't going to bother, bot Howard's reply coarsed me into it.

Government spending can indeed be a fairly effective way at getting out of a recession. When it's not 98% pork spending. Seriously, take a nice look at most of the crap in that stimulus package and tell me it's not a bunch of pork packed together and passed in a panic. For example, $1.3 billion was spent on Amtrak, a government owned corporation that hasn't had a single profit in over FOURTY YEARS. That is NOT helping the economy, that's blowing a shitload of money clear down the drain. And no, it's really not working at all. Most of the bill hasn't even gone into effect yet, and the economy is starting to pic up. But we ARE still in a recession, because there are STILL more jobs being lost every week than there are jobs being created nation wide. There's lie # 1: We're out of the recession. But we're not.

Yes, in CANADA, Obama is VIEWED AS Right of Center. Canada is also rather infamously socialist. And this shit with Acorn actually shows that Obama is FAR more left than the media is portraying him as. Of course, when the conservative in an election is John McCain, any liberal will look more moderate because fiscally, McCain is pretty damn liberal.

Yeah, Canada has had "socialized medicine" for years. It's also rather well know that waiting to see a doctor in Canada, even at a Hospital, can take HOURS. In America, if you look serious enough, you see a doctor immediately, and those who don't typically don't wait more than 20 minutes. And that's just the normal clinics. And of course a country known to be heavily left leaning would love it's socialized medicine: Because that's what the folks on the left want!

I'll post the the rest of the lies in Obama's speech when I'm not feeling too lazy to pull up a transcript of the damn thing and dissect it.
