Thor Odinson
And this is why transitioning from a manga artist to a spriter is rather annoying.
AstraLunaSol
At least my poses transferring to that will be generic because of the reverse.
Thor Odinson
Well, at least when you do character design you won't need badass action poses. Those are for manga panels and artbooks.
Lux Aeterna
That reminds me. Rip it up, Lumi. Oh, I fixed the eyes, so ignore those, I was just too lazy to re-upload. 8D
Thor Odinson
head shape. is kinda unnatural. hair looks too stiff. Use more natural curves and flowing strokes. Don't try too hard, just let the pencil flow. It works better that way. Bow is actually pretty nice.

I was told not to use rounded edges for hair...

Thaaaaaaaaaaat Is true. @Lux, as Lumi said, flow, don't think too hard on what you're drawing, just let your hand move on its own. Also, make sure you head anatomy is up to par, then add hair. Thor Odinson
This is what I mean by flow. Smoothness of the lines, not jaggedness. The red is head proportions. I advise starting with circle/ellipse and then draw a polygon under. Also body is tiny so I sketched over where they should be.

It's when I layered over--that's when it was weird. That's why I don't hold down and draw, I just stroke on the paper to get the shape. Also, that early on, you don't want to press too hard anyway. I looked at the chest first and thought she was a ripped guy. Shoulders, I am almost sure now. Oh dammit Lumi beat me to sketching over it. Time to draw Astra, and fail. Lux Aeterna
I don't know how to do that really, because if I actually try to flow, then it'll end up just as jagged. Also, here was the template I used, if there's anything wrong with it Edited December 19, 2010 by Iksel

Thor Odinson
The back of the head should be rounded out a bit more, but actually, for a chibi-istic style that's a fair template. Besides the ears. The ears are ALWAYS between the brows and the nose. NO EXCEPTION. If so it's anatomically wrong. Eyes are placed right, though. AstraLunaSol
That's Animu Like, REALLY Animu. Not exactly bad. I like realistic animu proportions. Edited December 19, 2010 by Utatane Piko

Lux Aeterna
By the way, I tried the shoulder like you made it--I either draw shoulders poorly or it looks horribly wrong. I'm keeping them the old way.
AstraLunaSol
Like more of my style? :3 Exactly. It'll also be easier to adapt to life drawing in Gr12. @Lux: The way you drew them make her seem as if she has no back, that's why need need to be bigger. Parrhesia
No, it's Emperor Hamisaki and Teacher is gonna kill you if you name it Eltshan or Aless. Actually, it's the King of Aukema, now known as Ares...I believe the mug was for Eltoshen. And as it's a completely different hack, I'm not only utterly indifferent to Lumi's preferences, but I have no input either.

No way to do that unless I make her look like a really buff chick.
Thor Odinson
And Ares is the Roman god of war. Lux, study human anatomy for a full day.
Lux Aeterna
Lux, study human anatomy for a full day. Are you saying to draw her like that even though she'll look like a man? Is that really the point you're trying to make?
