Not long ago (the 20th to be exact), FE1 was made available on the Japanese Virtual Console. Now FE2 will be following it very soon, as it will be released on 4th November 2009.

Finally, FE1-5 will all be available on the VC. Of course, there's still no news of any of these games being released on the English VC.

Well it wasn't a new game per say, but it was just that some Fire Emblem news was going to be announced.

On FEU, a member named Erksage said that the magazine Nintendo Dream reported that there was a rumor going around that there may be some Fire Emblem news announced soon (he said it reported it would happen next month, which would be november since he reported this in october). The magazine reported the rumor, so it's still a rumor, but one reported in a magazine. He also said that it may not be true, but given that FE2 was announced on the virtual console, if it was true, then it may have been refering to this.

Do you have a link to his post? I have a feeling they're talking about this, which was debunked several months ago.

I still highly doubt that FE4(Hell, even FE5) will ever be on VC unless Nintendo of USA wants to re-write nearly the whole script and change a few things in the love system to make it "appropriate"

They've released Japanese games on the English VC without translating them before.

Here's the link. It's the last post on the first page and it continues onto the second page of the topic. He even says in the post that the rumor is likely not to be true. Also, the Blademaster asking him about where he heard the rumor is me. He didn't have a specific link, but said you should possibly be able to read the article online. He might be right in saying it was just a rumor, but given the news about FE2 just being announced it may have been true. Though it may be just like you said. None the less, he still may have been right so.....
