Isn't telling me to play Star Ocean. Separate enough. The first game takes place about 20 years before the second, and has only a couple of very vague connections to the storyline. One of the two main characters is the son of a minor character from the first game, but there is very little connection otherwise. The third game takes place about 400 years after the second.
