Dracohon
I forgot all about this. <_< Anyway, here's my guesses: #83: Lost Vikings 2: Norse by Norsewest #82: WarioWare: Smooth Moves #81: Conker's Bad Fur Day #80: Sunset Riders #79: Bomberman #78: Worms 3D #77: Mickey's Magical Quest On a side note, I think this is the first batch where I've made guesses for every game. Even though all but one of these guesses was already made by either Quac or Mordecai.

I left the "for" as an intentinally vague hint : ) This marks the beginning of the Better than Super Metroid Teir #83: The Lost Vikings 2: Norse by Norsewest Console: SNES Genre: Platformer/Puzzle LV2 is simply an improved continuation of its predecessor. The vikings are kidnapped, but ambush their kidnapper robot and steal all his cool equipment, giving them new sci-fi moves. As they travel through new and better puzzles and levels, they also team up with a wolf and a dragon. #82: Wario Ware: Smooth Moves Console: Wii Genre: Minigames Smooth Moves Wario Ware: Smooth Moves is exactly what one might expect: a ton of short (as in a few seconds each) minigames using the wiimote to the max. The game is split into many chapters with their own theme and set of minigames, and you have to get through a certain amount as it gets steadily harder. Each chapter also has its little silent story. OH, and there's good side content. In humor, this game hits it perfectly. Look out for the way different holding positions are introduced. #81: Conker's Bad Fur Day Console: N64 (though there's an Xbox remake) Genre: Kinda 3D platformer with lots of story http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLLT7kKdnPs&feature=related Banjo Kazooie gets kinda inappropriate, but this game takes it all the way. When a game starts with a drunk squirrel trying to navigate home, you get what's coming. Gameplay in this game is okay, but not great - what I care about is the story and the way it's delivered. Superb and self-parodyous all the way. Favourite expression: Context sensitive. #80: Sunset Riders Console: SNES (maybe also arcade and some other) Genre: semi-DoubleDragon shooter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL-mjqi1rtw You control one of four cowboys, and have to catch the bad guys. This game follows the Double Dragon style, where you walk from start to boss in each level and have to finish in one sitting. This too is best played with a friend. Here however the air is filled with bullets from all the enemies, and one hit gets you dead. It's not so hard though as you bullets go a hundred times faster. Running on cattle and following trains on horseback included. #79: Standard Bomberman Console: Lots Genre: Bomberman? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRW-6xljsYU This covers pretty much any Bomberman game looking like the pic above. They are all about the exact same, and they are all awesome. I love taking this out when there's a group of people over. Premise is simple: Bomb everyone else before they bomb you and the time runs out. Get lots of good powerups. I usually try playing tactically but the stress prevents such action. #78: Worms 4 Mayhem Console: PC Genre: Turn-based fps-ish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6KpsY6AC0k When Worms turned to 3D I was concerned, but it turned out quite good. There was a lot of bad stuff though, and this is the game which fixed it. The world is much larger than in 2D Worms, which gives a lot of opportunities but it still feels very similar. There's a good one player mode with lots of missions, this makes good training for the quite dangerous multiplayer. #77: Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse Console: SNES Genre: Platformer When I was a kid I knew two things about Disney. 1 - Donald Duck was fun and Mickey was boring. 2 - Mcikey had the good games though. From the first time I borrowed this I was hooked - a somewhat short platformer with unique mechanics and just the right atmosphere. Each level has a theme, and most have a new suit. Every boss is Pete (though I didn't realise when I first played it) and you beat him by jumping on his head and throwing things at him. I'd like to think of the game as Super Mario World with more interesting mechanics and in a better "world". Hints for next batch: 76: Big Daddy cars 75: Herd them to the goal or to death, your choice. Worms1ish graphics. 74: Flash simplified Risk. 73: Old sidescrolling series gets new game on Wii after DS success. 72: SNES ninjas going through towns and other places. 71: 2D Worms to death. 70: Littlest toons for the SNES with a starry finish. Nightmare
Norse by Norsewest isn't the title for the SNES version, it's for the enhanced 32-bit version made for the Sega Saturn and PC. Suichimo
72 is Goemon/The Mystic Ninja. I've never played it but my friend has a game for the SNES about ninjas running around and it was one of those two names, possibly both. 70 is Tiny Toon Adventures. Take a civilisation and make it grow through the early stages of society, starting with stone age. The basic units are the villagers, they gather resources and build buildings which spawn warriors and technology. Civilisations are peoples like the greek, romans (expansion pack) and persian, each with their unique troops. War Elephants ftw. Also there's campaigns and a good map editor. And if you grow tired or end up in a very dire situation you could always cheat a few killer cars into the world. #75: Lemmings Platform: Several Genre: Puzzle Lemmings is great (duh). Simple task: guide a certain amount of the lemmings from start to finish, using a various selection of commands. Stages are varied both in theme and puzzle, and after a while they also get dangerous. #74: Dice Wars Console: PC flash game Genre: Strategy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BALa0Z8UHMc Too much of the time I should have spent on high school homework was spent on this game. It is basically a simplified version of the board game Risk: the board is split into many territories, and the goal is getting all of them. The higher amount of dices you have in a territory, the higher the chance of winning battles with it. You get more dices each round, the amount based on the number of bordering territories you have. Easily found in a rush with Google. Best used while waiting for something. #73: New Super Mario Bros Wii Console: Wii Genre: Platformer A successfull effort at mixing old with new, this Mario sidescroller brings many elements from all "main" Mario games from SMB1 to SM64, ++. The new thing (dunno if this is in NSMB on DS or not) is multiplayer with many people on screen at the same time, and the entertainment and hassles this gives. Playing this game with a friend was some of the most fun I've had with a Mario sidescroller, but also the most tedious. We always push each other off cliffs accidentally or pick up the other and throw him for luls. Stages go through the regular themes, ending with a Bowser theme and then secret levels. New powerups are good though I miss the cape/raccoon. #72: Legend of the Mystical Ninja Console: SNES Genre: Fighting/platformer Control a japanese (?) guy/ninja and his mentor (?) as they go on some quest, I never paid much attention to the story. Consept is simple - you go around beating up people, getting money and better weapons, before you come to the platforming segments and bosses. Test or watch this yourselves - dunno if it is the simplisity that makes it awesome or what. Best played on multiplayer. #71: Worms 2++ Console: PC++ Genre: Worm genocide This pretty much includes all the games resembling Worms 2 significantly: Armageddon, World Party, Worms 2: Armageddon and probably more. This thing works best in 2D: get to the other worms and find the best weapon to blast/drown them with. Bazooka is pretty basic here, banana cluster bombs, super sheeps and old ladies, air strikes and hallelujah bombs are much more fun. #70: Tiny Toons Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! Console: SNES Genre: Platformer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42v_krO-xsg&feature=related Doesn't really sound that great, does it.. but of course it is. Go through school, the west, haunted territory, a footbal court, Star Wars etc, this game takes oft-used themes and make them better than usual. And very good minigames. Hints for next batch: 69: Racing, build your own car from bricks. 68: SNES and PS, new series beats old series to dust. No matter what a lot of people say. 67: One of the first Lego games, includes the mean Brickster. 66: A href=url to previous times 65: Mortal Kombat 64 flashback. 64: Find the Fl0w 63: Spielberg + Lucasarts = great adventure game Oh, and looks like Conker beat Banjo by one vote. Santino
SMB3 wins the poll. The list so far: Good tier: 138: Metroid 137: Ice Climber 136: Brainies 135: Goof Troop 134: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages 133: King's Bounty 132: Megaman 7 131: Megaman & Bass 130: Inspector Gadget 129: Wario World 128: Kirby's Adventure 127: Fire Emblem 7 Very, very good tier: 126: The Mask 125: Heroes of Might and Magic 124: Mario Party 4 123: Ashte Kashte 122: Tetris 121: Starfox 120: Lego Island 2 119: E.V.O. Throw reality aside, you can even cage in the driver with no windows if you like. The way the car is built has no effect on its abilities but it's still quite nice. You race through a series of cups (and a LOT of stages) sort of like Mario Kart, and of course the challenge rises underway. Winning cups gives more pieces to use for the driver and car. #68: Megaman X Console: SNES Genre: Platform shooter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC-G-D_pz1U A wise FE4-Threader once said the original series beats the X series. That is just so wrong on all levels. You might consider this spot to include all X games (they are all really similar) but the first is the best in my opinion. It's short, you get to choose your order of levels (and thus the difficulty of the levels depending on which gear you get) and each level has its own challenges. Of course the penguin level will always be insanely easy and the water level will always be insanely hard though. #67: Lego Island Console: PC Genre: Exploration? Random mission-doing? v=yIEYUYIDJWo&feature=channel The first Lego Island was one of the first video games from Lego. It's all about exploring the island and interacting with everything on it. You get to choose between five people to go around town, helping people out, building boats and helicopters, racing and driving, feeding the local jailed criminal a cake with a file in it and hunting him down afterwards. This is a very light 3D game which is mostly about just having fun. I haven't played it since I was a kid but I'm pretty sure I would enjoy it as much now as I did then. #66: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Console: SNES Genre: RPG Best 2D Zelda, no doubt. I always kinda compare the other 2D Zeldas to ALttP in hopes of them being as good, but of course this makes me think less of them. This game has everything: the flow, excellent music, good graphics and environments, super dungeons and good story. And the master sword of course. The dark world works well. #65: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero Console: Nintendo 64 Genre: Fighting/very violent platformer http://www.youtube.com/watchhttp://www.youtube.com/watch ? Maybe it's a bit disturbing that I played this as a kid. Where I like the other MK games almost just for nostalgia, this is quite a good game today still. Imagine Mortal Kombat mixed with Zelda 2. Mortal Kombat Mythologies takes you away from the small battle stages and into large levels with quests and such, all the while having a Mortal Kombat-like control scheme. You control Sub-Zero and meet some other familiar characters along the way, some of which you end up fighting. Along the way you also learn new techniques. The difficulty in the later levels is high. This is a kinda dark game with a very nice atmosphere. The story sucks though. (duh) #64: flOw Console: PC flash game, later got improved PS3 + PSP versions Genre: Evolution http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/ This had the easiest hint ever I guess. The point of this game is implementing the «flow experience», a comfort zone between anxiety and boredom or something. You start as a small creature in the sea, and eat other creatures to grow. Some you have to fight, and after eating and growing to the bottom you start again as a new creature. All the while you are fed with relaxing music and the relaxation from the game itself. The big downpoint in this game is the controls and the «lag» in lack of a better word. You steer with the mouse but sometimes it doesn't do the movements planned. Of course the PS3 version fixes all this and provides awesomely improved graphics. Do not play this for challenge, play it for comfort. #63: Console: PC Genre: Adventure Any Lucasarts game not being about Star Wars is good, this one is great. An asteroid is heading for earth, and you control the head of a team of astronauts sent to stop it. It takes you through an abandoned alien world where a big part of the story is the effect this world has on the humans and how they start conflicting. The story is too good to be spoiled much more than that. It's point'n click so the challenge is in creative puzzle solving. Accompanied by a great score though it does at times get overly dramatic. I think they spent five to seven years on this, and still it came out kinda rushed. It got a lot of dedication probably due to Spielberg working on it at some phases. Hints for next batch: 62: In this game Indy breaks in pieces every time he dies. (first of two) 61: Hard yet simply built ninja game for Xbox after flash success. 60: Xbox splosion madness. 59: Beast bots for PC/PSX. 58: SNES, a strengthy guy addicted to strength brew 57: How do you turn this on cars 56: Ass King Nation
