Tables
We've all seen plenty of discussion about what the best set of pairings are, but what about the worst? The objective is basically to make a set of pairings that will make 2nd gen as difficult as possible, assuming every female is paired, items are passed down to make 2nd gen as easy as possible (this basically means you can't just say everyone in 1st gen is selling their good items - they won't) and every parent reaches level 30. I haven't tried to work out a set of what would be the worst characters, but my thoughts on each male: Ardan: Doesn't pass much down, so he seems a good candidate for any non-sword kid. Noish: Critical is nice, but no pursuit and mediocre growths. Same as Ardan in effect, unless critical will really help. Alec: Pursuit and swords passed down. Perhaps with a non-sword kid who gets pursuit from the mum. Fin: Pairing him makes him lose his lances for 2nd gen. He makes two decent kids from it, but that fact alone makes me think pairing him is a good idea. The kids get Prayer and Pursuit from it, which are good skills. Lex: Lolno Elite Azel: Mage Knight means he can pass down swords, along with pursuit and Fala Blood. Good only for non-sword users, probably who start with pursuit Midir: Bows passed down, plus pursuit and charge. Decent to pair if most of that is redundant. Dew: Surprisingly decent growths, plus swords, passed down. Bargain and Solar are good skills, too, although Solar probably disappears since you don't want him passing down swords either. A possible candiate Jamka: Continue and Charge, mediocre growths. Seems like a good candidate so long as the kid isn't a bow user. Holyn: Odo blood, swords, Luna. Perhaps for a non-sword user who doesn't need excess skill and HP but otherwise seems too good. Levin: Epic Speed growth, Holsety, Continue and Critical. I don't think there's going to be anyone that doesn't want at least a few of them, except maybe a physical fighter with no pursuit, who might have a 50 kill weapon anyway. Beowulf: See Midir, replace Bows with Swords. Claude: Yeah... C rank tomes and staves passed down, plus Blagi Blood. Probably a good candidate. So out of the males, Claude, Jamka, Beowulf, Dew, Midir, Azel, Ardan, Noish and Fin would seem to be the best candidates, in some distribution among the 7 females. Tables
Here and here. Fair enough. Quite far back, so I hadn't noticed them before. But still mostly answers the question, I think. Just use the alternative second half recruits, and you are done. Because I didn't explicitly state that everyone had to be paired, right? Dr. Tarrasque
Some subs are arguably better than children depending on their pairings. IMO, Laylea and Sharlow are always better than Leen and Corple.

Like say, Hawk is better than Arden!Sety?
Tables
That's true as well. Linde is also better than some possible Tinny's, and Amid IIRC ends up pretty similar to those dad's Arthur's. So changing the question to, make Gen 2 as difficult as possible from Gen 1... Aideen x herself Aira x herself Lachesis x herself Fury x herself Sylvia x Midir (Midir takes a ludicrous amount of items - keeping them unavailable until Corpul joins) Briggid x herself Tiltyu x Noish Look about right? Also, All females sell all of their weapons before the end of Ch 5.

Tables
Hm... Dimna starts with 9 SPD and a growth of 20%. He's not going to be doubling too much throughout the game, but... okay. Holyn gives him generally nice stats but with no skills, he's not doing much off of them. Although, actually, if it was level 12 Holyn with Level 1 Aideen... Aideen x Holyn Aira x herself Lachesis x herself Fury x herself Sylvia x Midir Briggid x herself Tiltyu x Noish Notes: Sigurd, Diedre, Cuan, Ethlin, Fin, Aideen, Holyn, Sylvia, Midir, Tiltyu and Noish all do as little combat as possible - stat gains will improve the children, after all. Sigurd, Ethlin, Cuan, Fin, Aideen, Sylvia and Tiltyu should sell all their items and weapons before the end of 1st Gen, Holyn and Noish should sell all their items. Midir should take the Power Ring, Magic Ring, Skill Ring, Speed Ring, Shield Ring, ch. 4's Return Ring, Elite Ring and Bargain Ring, preventing them being available earlier in 2nd Gen. Alternatively, here's another crazy setup that might just be worse. Differences in bold. Aideen x Holyn Aira x herself Lachesis x herself Fury x herself Sylvia x Levin Briggid x herself Tiltyu x Noish Notes: Sigurd, Diedre, Cuan, Ethlin, Fin, Aideen, Holyn, Sylvia, Tiltyu and Noish all do as little combat as possible - stat gains will improve the children, after all. Levin needs to reach level 20 and promote - using the Arena liberally for the worse stat gains is recommended. Sigurd, Ethlin, Cuan, Fin, Aideen, Sylvia and Tiltyu should sell all their items and weapons before the end of 1st Gen, Holyn and Noish should sell all their items. Levin should not collect Holsety, and take the Power Ring, Magic Ring, Skill Ring, Speed Ring, Shield Ring, ch. 4's Return Ring, Elite Ring, Bargain Ring, Both Lives, Relive, Return stave, Restore, Warp and Silence preventing them being available earlier in 2nd Gen. You get a better Corpul and slightly better Leen from this, but in exchange get stave screwed until chapter 9. It might be easier, it might be harder. Dr. Tarrasque
Hm... Dimna starts with 9 SPD and a growth of 20%. He's not going to be doubling too much throughout the game Negative AS does exist in FE4 and he's basically gaining +5 if you give him the Killer Bow obtained in Chapter 8. You forgot about Sleep, Libro, Reserve, and Restore staff (can be sold for cash) and use Claude so Leen and Corple end up worse as well. Getting inheritance money could make it easier for Rana than Mana. Then again, Holyn|Lester's offense is much worse against enemies that use heavy weapons.
