So I went down to the basement to get them... and I happened upon this really old game called Feudal. It's like the missing link between chess and FE! http://www.funagain.com/control/product/~p...filiate_id=LEAC http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/847 There are different unit types (though there aren't mages, healers, or flying units) and even terrain differences. The object of the game is basically Seize/Defeat Boss/Defeat enemy army (whichever comes first). The only thing it's really missing is stats and a RNG. Just thought it was a cool discovery.
