How do I set up my Ps3 controller for my pc?

For Doom and every other action game. I'm terrible with a keyboard.

I used the drivers on this here website.

And then use this for games/programs that don't let you set up a controller.

There's probably better ways to do it, but this works for me.

That version of Joy2Key is way, way out of date. Mine's at 4.6. And mine might even be out of date, last updated 2010.

I think I read somewhere that it won't work on Vista at all, so if you're using Vista, say goodbye to that.

Then use a mouse.

Trust me, no matter how bad you are with a keyboard, Doom simply can't be played even halfway competently with a joystick over a mouse.

However, you can cure that horrible movement of the keys with a joystick. I personally use a mix of both, a controller in my left hand and the mouse and numpad on my right.

Suddenly the best of both worlds, and no unnecessary joint damage

That may work for Doom, but not any FPS that needs the keys around wasd without letting go of WASD.

You'll need to route the d-pad to one of the weapons each direction, which may be passable.

I've been gaming on the PC for three years and it hasn't stopped any of the games I've used. There's about 20 free buttons on my controller, and what else I can map to the numpad (usually hotkeys).

It kind of sucks that PC gaming hasn't moved on from piggy-backing on a keyboard. It's not like it's stuck using something not meant for games of the modern equivalent.
