I don't really know why, but I kinda like having the cursor automatically go to the lord at the beginning of each turn, and said lord usually is close to the other units anyway. And even when they're not, I don't really care, as I always select further-away units via the approriate button (L in the GBA FEs) rather than actually moving the cursor there anyway.
