Sacred Blaze
After some short-lived testing, I discovered that many of the characters death quotes (but not all of them) don't show up. I've checked the text slots listed in my nightmare modules for where their quotes are and then in FEditor I've looked to see whether the text is there and everything, which it is, but they just aren't showing up. I'm guessing that this must be some other sort of problem then. Can someone help me with this? EDIT: If there really is no simple solution to this, then I do have a backup where they are working, although there are no differences. I didn't go back to it though because its quite an old backup. Maybe I can find something in there. Edited August 20, 2012 by Sacred Blaze
CT075
are you sure they're set to chapter 0x43 (all chapters) in the death quote editor are you sure they don't have a different specified death quote for that chapter

And yes, they don't have a different specified death quote. Also, some of the characters that do work don't have anything different from the people who don't in the death quote editor. EDIT: Sorry, actually I know what you mean about the 0x43 and yes it is 0x43. Edited August 20, 2012 by Sacred Blaze
CT075
what characters in particular don't have a death quote
Sacred Blaze
Quite a lot actually, but I'll just list a few. Don't work: Sain Rath Guy Fiora Priscilla Do work: Lucius Erk The Lords all work. Dorcas Serra
CT075
are they sharing a trigger ID with any of your events the trigger ID should be 0x0 unless you want their death to cause something else to happen Edited August 20, 2012 by CT075
shadowofchaos
Sounds like the "Tutorial Mode" death quotes problem. Take a screenshot of Erk's death quote. It changes depending on Lyn or Eliwood/Hector mode.
Sacred Blaze
are they sharing a trigger ID with any of your events the trigger ID should be 0x0 unless you want their death to cause something else to happen Does 0x00 count in that case, if its been used in the events. I thought that was permanent so it wouldn't matter. They are all 0x00 though. EDIT: Except for the few that are 0x65 Edited August 20, 2012 by Sacred Blaze

It changes depending on Lyn or Eliwood/Hector mode. I dont have an account on any of those image uploading sites but I can tell you exactly what's there. In Nightmare: Character: 0x13 Erk Chapter: 0x43 Any Chapter Text Value: 0x7DA Pointer to event: 0x00 Trigger ID: 0x65 This is in death quote editor part 2. He's not actually in part 1. shadowofchaos
No. I meant what does he SAY? In your game while playing. Not in Nightmare. Edited August 20, 2012 by shadowofchaos
CT075
Does 0x00 count in that case, if its been used in the events. I thought that was permanent so it wouldn't matter. They are all 0x00 though. 0x00 is permanently switched to "unused" if they're all 0x0 then i dunno EDIT: Except for the few that are 0x65 means game over
Sacred Blaze
No. I meant what does he SAY? In your game while playing. Not in Nightmare. Alright then. He just says "So, I finally lost. Everyone, I'm sorry."
shadowofchaos
Alright then. He just says "So, I finally lost. Everyone, I'm sorry." ... I meant what Erk says if before you edited the text. That's kind of important: Lyn Mode: Eliwood/Hector Mode:
Sacred Blaze
... I meant what Erk says if before you edited the text. That's kind of important: Lyn Mode: Eliwood/Hector Mode: As it turns out someone other than my current Erk is using his Lyn mode death quote. And my current Erk is using his Eliwood/Hector mode quote. The person that I've had to replace Erk is saying the "I'm sorry" quote I said above on his Eliwood mode quote and his Lyn one is someone else saying something completely different. I'm playing in Eliwood mode btw and as I said before his one is actually working anyways. Sorry if I'm being really dense to what you're saying. But this answers the question, right? Sorry if I'm being really dense to what you're saying. But this answers the question, right? The point is to test which quote he was actually saying DESPITE you saying you're in Eliwood mode. Well there goes that testing method. I'll be blunt. "You're screwed." ...unless you can devise a testing method that will see why certain characters are not activating in the mode you are currently in. And with you having edited the death quote text slots... the usual way won't work. Certain death quotes, such as tutorial character slots are coded not to work in Eliwood/Hector mode. Maybe you've done something that caused that to switch over to other character slots. Edited August 20, 2012 by shadowofchaos
