Zelkami
I've been playing Fire Emblem for a while now, and I thought that it might be fun to screw around with some of the Dialogue and characters names, see if I could create a different story. The problem is, I have no idea how to go about doing this. I don't want to change anything in the game itself, just the text. I don't have any experience hacking into roms, but I do know a small amount of C#. I'm using Visual Boy Plus fyi. Sorry if I come across as noobish. SgtSmilies
Supposing FE8 isn't wildly different, you're going to need FEditor. A note of warning, however, it's not just typing, there's other things involved, such as loading the face sprites and moving them around, along with where the text pauses and requires you to press A, and such. CT075
everything in this post is a lie, just use feditor you need to find the text pointer in the ROM to the text that you want to find by running a memory search of the text that you want to edit then you decompress the data there once you dump that, you can edit it and the control codes in a text file then you can re-compress that text data and paste it back into the ROM at a new offset finally, repoint the original text to the new location i've written a tool to make this process slightly easier (also highlight this post)
