Like if you help someone with something and they ask you to do the same next time, if you don't do it they'll give you shit and ask you Y u did not do it. U should be nice by default but once someone ask you do to something that you don't want you tell them to fuck off. That's different, that's letting people take advantage of you. It's entirely possible to be nice/honest/whatever without people using you. What is a weakness is the inability to trust people, you won't get very far if you're that cynical. By helping them you show them that you are both dependable and capable. While most people you meet are manipulative on some level, the notion that you'll be chained in bondage if you actually help another human being is preposterous. Be serious here.
