Yeah, Ike feels great now! I kicked butt with him last night! Though, it was partly due to some of my opponents being Ryu players who are still trying to learn him, I admit. But yeah, I'm loving my hero more now, thank you, Sakurai. :3 I just wish Ike would get back that range his f-air had in Brawl! That was some sweet range, man.

I'm glad Luigi didn't actually get any nerfs after all. He's perfect, don't touch him! He's not too weak OR too broken.

He needs a good rest now before starting on Wolf.

Roy's Final Smash has me sold on him. They got his Binding Blade crit perfect, I think. I like how they had him knocking off Mario's Roy off the screen in the trailer, due to the amount of Roy/Roy jokes I've seen.

Okay, that's pretty far below the belt. Would you like to see your main get Sakurai Stomped? And Sheik does need a nerf, F-Tilt is rediculous and Knife Storm or whatever it is shits all over the metagame. What's the fun in playing if you spend 80% of your time being roflstomped by a torrent of spam that you can't DI out of? Although, I concur that ZSS needs anything but a nerf, she is just so half-assed as it is.

Sakurai himself should be playable.

Only regret about Lucas is that I think it'd be cool if he had a different recovery, since Ness's recovery is intimidating to some people I've played with.

How's Ryu btw? From the trailer and his dozens of moves he seemed pretty overpowered, like moreso than the other ones we thought would be. Is it too early to judge? I figured that casual players wouldn't really be able to tell the difference but once the pros learn how to use and take advantage of his combo system he'd be pretty dangerous.

Because Lucas isn't Kakarot. =P

...And Ryu will be formidable especially with customs.

Ryu DOES seem super good in good hands. But yeah, he has to have the biggest learning curve of any character in the game now, even Rosalina.

Try to think from samurai's perspective though, with the huge fanbase (as demonstrated in this thread), Roy creates a shitload of profit. For Sakurai, he isn't a waste of money. =]

I actually like Roy for being the generic FE teenaged Lord with a kind heart. Especially how he refuses to kill that emotionless dragon girl and fleeing soldiers.

Roy is just ginger Marth, but he does it better than the blue kid.

With all that said... he's still a better lord than Chrom.

I like Roy because he's a barely experienced fighter who manages to overcome ridiculously awful odds while commading a troop made of the oldest bodyguard ever, a group of inexperienced knights, and a bunch nobody mercenaries. Story wise, what Roy does in his game is incredibly impressive, and something a lot of people don't credit him for.

I like Leif for similar reasons.

I thought his alts were Greil (the second palette), Zelgius (the red one), Black Knight (black one), PoR Geoffrey (the lime green one), Sigurd (the blue one with black and gold armor), Chrom (the eighth one), and Ashera's army (the gold armor and magenta cape).

Er, this fits Ike to a T too. He has leadership suddenly thrust on his shoulders while he barely just started mercenary work and a couple of his group's guys walk out on him. He starts off with a tiny band and with nothing to his name. Yet he's also suddenly faced with escorting and protecting his country's princess and building an army to defeat an opposing country. Roy has the support of Pherae and Ostia and had plenty of education behind him and started off with an army since he took over command for Eliwood. Ike's only teacher dies early on, and Shinon and Gatrie hit the road, leaving Titania as the only person with plenty of experience around him for a while. Yet by the end of PoR, he's won the big war and crushed Daein's most powerful people and he's respected by nearly every nation in Tellius, and even some folks in Daein.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that what Roy does is pretty impressive too. I just feel that Ike's achievements are even more amazing given where he started off.

Roy is more a commander and lover then a fighter. Honestly he's inexperienced, but all his time studying made him incredibly intelligent, the manga shows this off best, he really isn't that bland.

He's his own tactician unlike quite a few lords in the series.

No, it doesn't fit Ike at all. Ike does get thrown leadership pretty abruptly, yet Ike's "tiny band" is made of two former Royal Knights, one of them a experienced young woman who kills everything in front of her, the other, while less experienced, is pretty competent. Also a mage who is a gifted tactician, plus teammates very good in the field with Boyd and Mia. The only really weak units in Ike's initial band are Rhys, Mist and Rolf.

Compare to Roy's band. Allen, Lance and Bors are all basically rookies with little experience, some of which have zero idea of how to operate in the field (Allen's idea of tactics: "Put every weak unit on the front lines so the enemy gets tired of killing them" I'm not making this up). There's also Wolt, who is of Roy's age and comparable to Rolf in experience. Merlinus is probably the worst tactician in the series, to the point Roy spends most of the game ignoring him. Then there's Marcus, who despite his vast experience, is basically dying in FE6. And while Ike's army gets filled with powerful Laguz, Royal Knights, the best Assassin ever, and some dudes with enough experience to hold a weapon, Roy's army gets more and more kids and other dudes who are basically dead weight. Sure, you get some cool characters like Deke and Rutoga early on, and eventually you get guys like Zealot, Miledy, and Perceval, but by that point in their respective games, Ike's army is steamrolling everything.

What? Yes it does. Ike starts off with little experience and only one very experienced ally. Also, Ike's starting party IS tiny. Mia isn't available yet at the time, what are you talking about her for? Boyd doesn't have that much more experience than Ike (Greil even says Boyd is closer to Ike's experience level than others. Boyd is just big-headed about it). Oscar WAS a Royal Knight, but pretty much a rookie at that time since he's only 24. He really doesn't have a lot of experience compared to Titania, who'd been fighting since Ike was practically in diapers. Soren is a tactician, that's it. Not a lot of actual fighting experience. And as you say, Mist and Rolf are weak. Rhys is sickly and can only heal injuries. Mist can only heal injuries too. So Ike has when he first takes command:

Two children, one can't even fight

A sickly healer

A sort of rookie knight

A rookie axe fighter

A veteran knight

A fragile tactician

Yeah, very small and not much to go on. Titania even admits that their group needs new recruits after Shinon and Gatrie leave.

Yeah, Ike builds an army over time. He doesn't start off with all of the people you mention. And some of them still hate him for awhile even after they have to join him (like Lethe). He had to gain their trust and get them to believe in him despite that he's just a teenage boy. Roy already had the trust of a lot of people.

Ike's party only "steamrolls" everything because stats. I'm not talking about stats. Anyone here knows that stats and growths in FE6 generally suck.

What I'm saying is that Ike starts off with close to nothing. Roy doesn't.
