running into Charmeleon and Wartortle in there was one hell of a surprise. for obvious reasons it never occurred to me that such a thing would even be possible, and i'm still giggling at the idea of being a legitimate owner of a starter in anything other than a normal Poké Ball (or a Cherish one i guess)

that said i'm even more confused by how no other starters are available there i didn't even realise that may be the case until i saw this thread's title

if you're gonna go part of the way for a mechanic obviously meant to both diversify and simplify availability for National Dex completion why not go all the way? y'know, as opposed to sticking with only including redundant options in a game where you can already get the Kanto starters easily (granted, easy access to the two not picked, not to mention duplicates of the one you did, isn't bad at all but it's still feeling incomplete as hell all things considered)
