Tamanoir
I thought Yuna and Garnet were significantly different characters aside from being able to summon and use white magic ...And having an uncle named Cid (That's when I posted this comment). Yuna is clearly a shout-out to Garnet, while being her own unique character. I would have liked them to change the music why you summon a Aeon, like in The Magical Land of Wozz. (Yeah, that's the first thing I thought about when I heard about Aeons).
Lord Raven
In what ways are Yuna and Garner similar aside from uncle Cid and the white mage/summoner thing? Is Tidus a shout out to Zidane then? Easy answer: no

Easy answer: no Well, if it's this Zidane, yes... Though, actually what this game do really well is his description of adolescence. They try to act like adult (because this is a world where you have to become adult early), but they're still pretty childish. Especially Tidus, obviously, who get lost on a word where he doesn't know anything (congratulation for not using the amnesia trick here), and he didn't have a life as hard as the others. He always find a way to do/say the most awkwardly thing on any situation (it's hard to take it seriously as a hero... Maybe it's the point) , and act mostly like a spoiled child, despite all his efforts. It does a lot of things right, for sure.
