Full time back or will go in front too? I've seen Sol+Arms Helswath Gerome do wonders in Apo SR (The one I used had Pavise as well to just screw anything in its way too, though).

Then yeah, it's not really a good skillset.

Gerome is generally a support unit, so procs won't do him much good. Gregor!Gerome can run a 'Zerker with LB, Agg, Axefaire, All+2 (Str+2), and DS+ (Str+2/Swordbreaker).

Gerome should be hard support, doing everything he can to boost his Str after making sure his Hit is fine. Defensive builds don't work so well in Secret Apo because there's too much Luna+ to deal with.

Pavise, Duel Guards, and Aegis works wonders for Luna+.

Which they don't do so reliably without a ton of resources- resources that are better allocated to offense, which goes farther than any defense [since you never once have to take an attack via rescue and killing the enemy within 6 shots.]

Unless you have 100% skill activation (which requires a very specific setup that only Chrom!Inigo!Morgan can do, anybody can play offense), you have a chance of death when fighting the Nightmare Sniper, which is completely unacceptable outside of extreme challenge runs. Anything else, and pretty much any capped promoted unit, even those lacking LB/Rally, can take a hit and stay alive, so PavGis and DG+ will make no difference on whether or not you survive. And why bother tanking a hit when you can do all of Secret Apo without getting attacked at all?

You don't.

It's never enough to 0HKO them anyway without Sniper poking, or Vengeance. Your right, the Sniper class is a terrible choice for Chrom as you want to get him out of it right away after the challenge run. Challenge, or not, people are still going to give their characters Limitbreaker afterwards as it makes them much better for Streetpassing, etc.

You do against Anna though as she has Vantage+.

I never said anything about Chrom's class. Nightmare Sniper can be killed using your own Vantage, one range attacks (he lacks Pass so you can box him in), or even Avo stacking (he only has 244 Hit). No need to do it entirely through Longbows.

Vantage+ cannot counter your own Vantage, and it also doesn't do much if you're using Avo stacking. There are, as a matter of fact, exactly zero enemies in Apo that have Hawkeye/Vantage+ combos.
