Yeah, the acceleration and handling of heavyweights are a lot better than in past Mario Kart games, so lightweights aren't as useful/popular as a result. I personally use mostly middleweights. Try friending Gaia or BuddyBoy (the two most active tournament participants) on Miiverse and joining them from your friend list, since joining the tournament straight from the tournament menu can result in going to an empty waiting room even though there are people participating in the tournament at that moment. I've personally seen quite a few high VR players use a Baby character/Lemmy with a full top speed setup (Mach 8/Sports Coupe/Circuit Special/Gold Standard and Slick/Cyber Slick wheels) and do rather well. Golden Mushrooms, Triple Mushrooms, Stars. the casual items you would expect to come from bad racers. Well the items are determined by the distance from first place, so it's the latter. Lucky 8's everywhere. Golden Mushrooms, Triple Mushrooms, Stars. the casual items you would expect to come from bad racers. Throwing up your arms and doing a 720 spin really captures the emotional turmoil of having fruit land on you. It doesn't capture the physics, but emotionally, yeah, makes sense.
