Samias
I don't think Skyward Sword is to Zelda as Awakening is to Fire Emblem. Awakening is a shallow anniversary title that happens to be the best-selling Fire Emblem installment of all time, designed to revive the franchise. Skyward Sword is just a risky game that forces people out of their comfort zone. It's not really a game to sit down and relax with because of the motion controls. Link Between Worlds is a bit closer to Zelda's Awakening, which might not be the favourite title for most Zelda gamers, but it puts Zelda back on track when it comes to handheld titles after Spirit Tracks derailed. Neither approach is bad. Fire Emblem sorely needed the increase of sales so it made a game that was easy to get into at the expense of plot, character development, and depth of strategy. Skyward Sword took a huge risk with a franchise that wasn't on its last legs, and while it hit high notes with some parts of the fan base thanks to the motion control swordplay and some memorable new characters like Groose and Ghirahim, it also stumbled with others due to the linearity and repetitive aspects like the Imprisoned and the Silent Realms and the few people who didn't have a good experience with Wii Motion+.
