If you manage to figure out what kind of adware you got, you might be able to remove it by force. The simple kinds can simply be deleted if you know where they are. The more malicious ones some antivirus software and/or anti-malware programs can deal with, but most of those aren't free.

Wiping your hard drive will definitely work, but I would only resort to doing that if you really can't figure out how to get rid of the adware.

sorry if i sound dumb but have you tried installing malaware bites? or perhaps ms security essentials.(oh if it's adware i think malawarebites works well.)

im sure that it just wipes viruses and things you download

other than that programs will still be there

Depends on your hard drive.

If you have several virtual drives, then yeah, wiping only the system drive will leave the other ones untouched. If the virus is not on that system drive, however, you'll have to wipe the other ones as well.

I'll try asking my mom when she gets home, since this is her computer.

If she doesn't, then my dad will try getting this to Best Buy tomorrow to get its hard drive wiped.

try installing malwarebytes. there should be a trial version for free. (up to a month it lasts i think_
