I'm pretty certain I heard that it was planned on Fox News the day it happened. Even if it wasn't planned tho, it works out as great polictically as it would planned by making Republicans more relatable to the general public. If I ever heard a FE/Pokemon/Zelda/whatever song play on a ringtone, I'd vote for them in a heartbeat!
