So alternating initially, then for tiebreakers deciding who goes first with a coin flip, would be the fairest method for everyone. I think this is what OP has been planning to do already. I also support best of 5. Less likely for rng BS to happen than best of 3, but anything more than 5 would probably get repetitive and boring. I think alternating would be the better option. After all, if going first screwed someone over, what's the chance that something will turn around in their favor (double Vengeance with a Brave weapon on the faster contender did kinda screw over at least one of the fighters last tournament (i.e. Tinny))? I might change to best of 5 and just use best of 7 or the final to spice things up a little bit. I'm also considering if I should make this one double elimination rather than single elimination... It's be similar to how the dudes who run Smash tournaments set up brackets (sort of). Essentially, round two and loser's round one will have the same number of people and I'm juggling with reshuffling the bracket on the losers' side or just structuring it like loser of match 1 vs. loser of match 2 and so on. What may occupy my time is when I get an actual job, but even that may not be the biggest roadblock in getting these done. I'm mainly waiting to all of the submissions before I make the rest of the characters so I don't run into the problem with the last tournament having to remake some people for both being on the digital copy. I'm probably going to allow two submitted avatars if I don't have any new entrants within then week (I might also consider adding in my character for the sake of time if that becomes an even bigger concern).
