Calculating growths and mods made easy

I'm not sure if anyone already did this before me, but I couldn't find it so here's an excel file I made that will allow you to calculate the growths and modifiers of your characters. Might save someone somewhere some time in the optimisation thread.

Downloadable:

Google Drive:

Credit for the data goes to whoever put them up at the fates section of serenesforest. Please feel free to use, improve and spread.

Now I'll probably go back to being true to my username.

v1.1 Dumb errors fixed.

v1.2 More dumb errors fixed.

EDIT: Great if not better alternative for stat caps because it is more accurate with class options; http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=55279 because I'm blind apparently and did not see it until now.

This is nice, but how do I use it?

Seems a bit confusing :x Keeps on saying "problem with formula T39", and that it's too complex or long, contains a function not supported....

Could you tell me how you got the error?

I did notice a few problems with the modifier calculations. I am working on fixing that now.

EDIT: More dumb errors fixed; http://www.mediafire.com/view/bux194qcneb9dvt/FEfates_calculator_v1.2.xlsx

EDIT2: Just in case. You only need to manipulate the bolded sections. Like these here; http://i.imgur.com/xjtCJgM.png I didn't lock the rest cause I want to try a few other things, but you only need the calculator tab and the bolded text.

I downloaded it and opened it. It then pops up a message saying "File Conversion..." then one that says "Cannot change the document C:\Users\user\AppData\...\XI0000004.xls. The document is read-only or is open by another user or application. To change this file, save it with a different filename."

Then the program pops up with "Select the worksheet you want to import:" with the options being "calculator", "asset", etc. Then it pops up what I put in my last post, with "Click Yes to continue loading and display other errors, click No to continue loading and suppress further errors, or click Cancel to stop loading the document. If I click No, it says "162 errors were found when the spreadsheet or database was opened.

I'm not sure if I need any other program, but I can edit the bolded parts. It doesn't change anything, though. I could make the asset Strength and the flaw Speed but it'd still stay the same.

In fact, I could change anything and it'd stay the same. If it also helps, mine doesn't have the other tabs at the bottom like the image in your posts. It has Task Pane at the side though.

This little tool looks pretty nice, if a bit confusing. Would've preferred a drop down menu, but I guess that can be easily put in. (How to do this in LibreOffice / Excel)

I'd like confirmation that child growth does indeed work that way, seeing how the children's initial stats sure doesn't work the same way as Awakening (which is good; the children now actually look like they're at the level they debut in). Also, I guess an expected stats calculator would be appreciated too, but with the data already there, it shouldn't be too hard to manually create one.

Here's a way to test it….

Find a father/child pair who has 0 magic growth. (Example: Flannel and Velour)

Take a class that has 0 magic growth. (Example, conveniently enough, Garou and its promotion).

Marry the father (Example: Flannel) to a woman with a non-zero magic growth. To make the test easier, marry him to someone with as high a magic growth as possible. (Elise or Nyx would work for these purposes, with 65% and 50% growth rates… let's consider Elise).

If growths inherit, then Elise!Velour should have a non-zero magic growth rate. If she ever gains magic in leveling up at all as a Garou, then it proves that growths inherit, as she should have a 0% magic growth if growths don't inherit.

If they inherit and do so in the same manner as in Awakening, Elise!Velour should end up with a 21.66% magic growth rate, she should gain a point of magic on average for each 4.61 levels.

The same could be done on Hoshido with:

Ryoma & Shinonome as weapons Master or Lance Fighter/Holy Lancer

Takumi & Kisaragai as a Holy Bowman

Hinata & Hisame as a Weapons Master

These should give 0% magic growth in the case of non-inherited growths…

Orochi would be the best means of testing this on Hoshido… she has 65% magic growth, so she'd create the largest chance of a magic level up (21.66% if they inherit like Awakening).

If Orochi!Shinonome gains magic at any point as a Lance Fighter/Holy Lancer or Weapons Master, Orochi!Hisame gain magic as a Weapons Master, or Orochi!Kisaragi gains magic as a Holy Bowman, we would prove that growths inherit, as otherwise they'd have 0% growths and never get magic at all.

Again, any mother who has magic growths can actually do this…. Orochi would just make testing it the easiest as we'd not need to wait as long on average before seeing the first magic level up occur.
