Roflolxp54
To add on to what I've said earlier, Nintendo might be planning on using the mobile devices as a marketing platform -- use it for advertising similar to how Nintendo and many other companies use television channels, billboards, and website banners for advertising, only that the mobile apps are more interactive than most ads. Assuming that the mobile apps are F2P, they could just be demos for the casual/cash-strapped/newbie consumer while the games for dedicated consoles and handhelds offer the full experience. It's not unlike how the eShop offers free demos of several titles so as players can learn a bit more about the titles/franchises than what review sites, shop description, video trailers, and screenshots can offer. Knight
Nintendo has always been more stubborn and prideful than many other companies, and although that may be detrimental in some cases, for those worrying whether or not they'll ever ditch consoles, I'd say that's a more positive thought. Pride has always been a staple, even before Iwata.
Tryhard
Kimishima himself reiterated NCL's commitment to the console business. Right now any notion that Nintendo will become a mobile focused company is not based anywhere in reality. Kimishima was part of Iwata's team when they mapped out Nintendo's direction for the future and there is no evidence to suggest that Kimishima intends to radically alter that vision. Konami becoming a company interested primarily in pachinko was also 'not based anywhere in reality' a couple of years ago. I didn't say it was likely to happen, just that you can't know anything. Ironically, people holding that thought might be betraying the brand loyalty (which is a stupid thing to have btw) for Nintendo.
