StarCavalier Posted August 7, 2016 Share Posted August 7, 2016 So I was wondering what the benefits of doing an FE7 hack were over FE8 or is there? I'm new to hacking, but I'm currently trying to get into it. I looked around to see if this topic had been brought up, but google failed me. If the subject has already been asked, I'd appreciate it if someone could direct me there. This might affect the topic: My hack will have have units entering and leaving as well as a spit path option - so if FE7 can't do that, then I'll be looking into FE8. Agro Posted August 7, 2016 Share Posted August 7, 2016 You can do both pretty easily in both versions, but FE8 has recently gotten a little bit more support amongst modders as certain infrastructures are handled better. I'm not sure of the specifics but nowadays FE8 is better to start hacking from if you haven't made a start on FE7 already. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tequila Posted August 7, 2016 Share Posted August 7, 2016 The only reason FE8 wasn't very commonly hacked was because there was little documentation on it, which was because it wasn't commonly hacked. Now, the cycle's been broken somewhat, and as Agro said, there's a lot more resources available. I'm of the mind that there's nothing FE7 offers that FE8 can't do (or beat, like split promotions, world map, and memory slots). I'm told FE8 events are a bit confusing if you're used to 7's, but otherwise there is no reason to pick 7 over 8. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
