Between being invite only, making terrible marketing choices (where they basically said "lul real sports suck anyways") they proved to have no grasp on how to properly organize such an ambitious event, and just trying to somewhat appeal to large internet crowds without doing propper research to make a quick buck. For example, Leffen was "selected" for Smash 4. A guy who said he hates Smash 4 and would never play it.
