Nym
Umm maybe, it's true there's like no John where I live but I doubt my name is the french variant of the name.
Rezzy
Umm maybe, it's true there's like no John where I live but I doubt my name is the french variant of the name. A baby name site I frequent lists Yann as a Breton/French variant of John, although I think Jean is more common. My grandfather was a Jean, pronounced like Zhawn, like Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek. Yan with one n is listed as Bulgarian or Belarusian. Jan is Dutch.
Naughx
Yann is the Breton variant of Jean, knowing that most of the french colonists in New France/Quebec came from Normandy and Brittany (But also from Paris region) this isn't so surprising. I've got some Norman blood, but my grandpa wound up as a Jean somehow.
