Ok so if you guys are fully aware, Nintendo just released their recent report of the million 3DS game sellers as well as lifetime sales....

http://gonintendo.com/stories/272995-wii-u-3ds-lifetime-hardware-software-sales-updated-biggest-sel

http://gonintendo.com/stories/272994-nintendo-first-party-million-sellers-for-9-months-ended-dec-31

So what's the issue here? oh idk, I guess when Nintendo says that Fire Emblem is a major IP, its a no brainer that the sales of FE games should also appear there as well...RIGHT?!?!

Where the hell is Fates sales there? Ok forget the lifetime sales...what about the million sellers list? Of all the games that had to show up there, its Kirby Planet Robobot at the end!( Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the game and I like it better than Triple Deluxe...) you think that atleast one mention of how well Fates has sold until now would have been revealed but no..not even one single damn time here.

If it sold two million units, WHY NOT mention it there in the list?!?!

Fates isn't listed because the bulk of its sales happened in Fiscal year 2015, those are only games that sold 1 million units during fiscal year 2016.

This, the second article even says "9 months of the fiscal year", ending on December 31st. Meaning the start of the fiscal year was March 31st, nearly a month and a half after Fates released.

Also, from what I recall, most information suggests Fates sold closer to 3+ million when you account for downloads and Revelations.

But if that is the case, then how come very old titles like Pokemon X/Y are being showcased when that was shown in the fiscal year of 2013 and its still showing up even now?

Pokemon X/Y sold 1.2 million in this fiscal year. Fire Emblem doesn't have those legs ^^

Two words:

Pokémon

GO

Both XY and ORAS got a boost from that.

On that list, most of the games are Mario and Pokemon games. Mario is the best selling franchise of all time. It has sold over 500 million copies. Pokemon, meanwhile, has sold over 250 million copies. Seem insignificant, but it's sold twice that of Zelda, which has sold twice that of Kirby, which has sold twice that of Metroid. These were Nintendo's top franchises. Notice how only Pokemon and Mario, with a Zelda remake, a couple of casual games, and Splatoon, are on that list.

These reports do not reflect on Fire Emblem's popularity.

But then why on earth did Nintendo made a statement like FE is now a major IP then? I mean...they literally made such games to prove of its importance and yet...they did so little?!?!

Dude, Pokemon is a metaphysical juggernaut, and so is Mario. Of course it's selling nowhere near that amount. It's kind of hard to deny that Zelda has that kind of importance, too, and Awakening and Fates both sold more than Triforce Heroes. Stop freaking out. The series is big.

Edit: FIre Emblem: Awakening and Fates have also sold more than Return to Dream Land, and Triple Deluxe. Fire Emblem: Fates sold less than the latter, but not by much.

Fire Emblem sells are front-loaded which is fairly common for games in more niche genres. According to this list it sits below LOZ: Majora's Mask 3D and above Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Fire Emblem really is doing very well especially for a game in it's genre. But don't ever expect it to do Pokemon, Smash, Kart, Mario, or Zelda (and even Zelda sells less then these four) numbers.
