Steven Tyler
What are some of your favorite remixes, covers, arragements of a song from a video game, wherever it be a fan made, official, or live? Final Fantasy IV: The Red Wings by Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra at Orchestral Game Concert #1 (1991) This is just epic. I am amazed how an orchestra took a 16-bit sync MIDI SNES music and change the song into something that is almost movie-like. This sounds like something from a military air force movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AbZbtl17DY Fire Emblem from the Super Smash Bros. Melee Orchestra (The New Japan Harmonic[?]) So it may be just only "Together, We Ride" and part of the main theme put together, but it's another beautiful arrangement. Starting at 2:00, the song gives me an image of a group of troops coming home after a major victory and they're getting their rewards for protecting their motherland. Main Theme of Final Fantasy II A full orchestra and choir, I love that. Another movie-like arrangement from a series with almost perfect music. The Envoy of the Beginning
Metroid Metal. Other than that, there's hardly any remix/cover/arrangement that I truly liked (also applies to non-VG music as well). Fox
Smashing Live! is my personal gold-standard for video game orchestrations. Few have yet to compare, truth be told, but the orchestrated section to the Super Mario Galaxy Platinum Edition comes damn close, save for the fact that they simply loop and fade, rather than the pieces from Live!, which were arranged. Final Fantasy IV: Celtic Moon is also pretty nice, though if I have to be honest, for some reason the album freaks me out.
Steven Tyler
Final Fantasy IV: Celtic Moon is also pretty nice, though if I have to be honest, for some reason the album freaks me out. They did WONDERS with "Theme of Love" and the prelude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gqC96M4nDE...feature=related and the main theme of Final FantasyIV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o2LUj80QgU As the title suggested, it holds on the the true Celtic style! Speaking of FF, I enjoy this remix of Terra's Theme (FFVI) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rZWn2ajPe4 The thing I hate about OC ReMixers (among other things i hate about that shithole site), EVERYONE, EVERY FUCKIN' ONE HAS TO DO TERRA'S THEME!!! However, "Terra in Black" is one of the few good Terra remix.
