Why do people overuse periods, online?

The period, despite being overrated, is still the best for its use in literally every sentence ever and looking quite simple. 10/10 would . again.

The colon is just a period floating above another period. Not as in much use, but as awesome as a period.

The exclamation mark is like a period but with a  stick floating over it. Not too big of a fan of the stick, but oh well.

Question mark is good in conveying a message, but it reminds of Captain Hook a bit too much.

Quotation marks aren't....they aren't that cool, I guess. They just allow you to quote stuff.

Apostrophe is like a single quotation mark that isn't cool because its not two quotation marks.

Semi colon is meh because its just a period hovering over a period that has a tail.

Comma is even more since its only a period with a tail.

Hahaha, I am so guilty of this... It's a weird habit I picked up, and I don't know why I do it! 

I am slightly amused by the unnecessary comma in the title.

Ellipse example off the top of my head:

Yeah. I have noticed a lot of RPGs use ellipses a lot too.
