after months of lurking, I have decided to upgrade

Personally new to the site myself, literally just joined.

Just finished Genealogy the other day, would love to replay if the length of each chapter didn't give me migraines. (Waiting for full Thracia translation)

And while I may be biased after growing up with the game, I'd recommend playing Path of Radiance. Love the story and character development, although some mechanics make gameplay tedious... Radiant Dawn is somewhat underwhelming, but it definitely helps answer the cliffhangers from PoR.

Yeah, it is bad game design, but it isn't really enough to make me drop the game since I have too many vulneraries on hand and they're basically elixirs in this game.

IMHO, it breaks what I see as an unwritten rule in RPGs - that healing skills should never be luck based. Or at the very least, I do not remember any RPGs where healing skills had a chance to fail...

Hello, fellow newbie! Glad to see I'm not alone.

Same. I'm praying we get a remake with actual balanced gameplay and presentation as crisp as SoV someday. Someday...

Ooh I've heard lots of good things about PoR and Titania seems like a really cool character. Sadly, I'm currently doing the games chronologically so PoR would be third in my queue right now.

Yeah it does. But I can overlook some broken gameplay if the narrative is compelling enough. Same goes for sucky narrative, but fun gameplay.

Anyway, since I've only completed the games with arguably the worst gameplay so far it means my fe experience can only get more fun from here.

Exactly - it makes Thracia stand out, and not in a good way. And the game already stands out in many bad ways... Anyway, I can easily ignore a bad story if the gameplay is good enough. The reverse does NOT apply, however - I'm not wasting my time on a game if I deem the gameplay to be really awful.

We all play for different reasons. It's nice to see you have your priorities straight.

...Not exactly. Binding Blade is pretty much one giant escort mission due to how terrible Roy tends to be (and the fact that every mission is seize). Do you like escort missions in video games? If not, then you might not like it.

I've already played a few chapters of Binding Blade and yeah it is just one glorified escort mission, but I'm just grateful that I can actually play it blind instead of looking up chapters for tips and translations.

Which I wouldn't recommend if you want to get the true ending, because the true ending requires you to have all of the divine weapons and not break any of them before defeating the chapter 22 boss.
