In Awakening, it is outright stated as Lucina sets out to correct the past. In Fates and Three Houses, the alternate major paths imply the creation of alternate realities. In Heroes, this is also outright stated. The existence of certain characters like Queen of Nohr Camilla and a mad scientist L'arachel means that they came from realities that are unexplored in the mainstream Fire Emblem games.
