  1. I always thought that the cliffhangers were sequel bait, and then that sequel never happened, so I'm curious to see how they'll be resolved and if they'll tie it back into the other Xenoblade games. Also, assuming the Switch 2/Super Switch/Switch Ultra Deluxe is backward compatible with Switch 1/Normal Switch/Switch, I can see the online modes of this game having about the same longevity of the original, if not longer... but I never engaged with the online modes much anyway, and with NSO being not free, I hope that there will be in-game alternatives for accessing certain things.
  2. And garbage. Don't forget that, too. That's just about half the country, no big deal.
  3. Welcome to the forest! We hope you enjoy it here. It's always nice to see new people register. As far as finding second-hand copies, a decent bet would probably be to check Amazon or eBay if you have the means to get the games that way. I'm not entirely sure if you'll be able to find anything that's listed lower than full price, but it's worth a shot if you're trying to get it for cheaper.
  4. It is an unwelcome surprise to be reminded of the inglory that is Rockhard Thunderdick. I will be awaiting The Harder 2: Hard Harder with unbated breath.
  5. FE4 is weird in that it's RNG isn't really RNG since it operates on the same seed all the time. If you were to replicate the actions of another player move for move, you'll have the exact same outcomes every time; it's also why, if you were to have first have Sigurd attack the brigand in his range in the beginning of the Prologue, he defeats them the same way every time at the start of a playthrough. It's a unique quirk of FE4 that I'm curious to see if it'll be done in a remake or if it'll be replaced by a traditional RNG system.
  6. I kinda do a bunch of different things depending on the game. For FE7 and earlier, I typically just use a number. For Sacred Stones up to Shadow Dragon, I just type out the title or abbreviate it (so PoR for Path of Radiance, for instance). For New Mystery, I just say New Mystery. For Awakening and beyond, the numbers start getting too big, so I again just use the title (except for Echoes, I just use SoV). If anyone every abbreviates Genealogy of the Holy War to GotHW, don't trust them. Same goes with SDatBoL.
  7. Hey, if you were still interested in giving mafia a try, there's a new game that's taking signups right now, Vigilante Mafia.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

I appreciate the invite, but I think I'll sit this one out. Thank you, though!

  8. There are two pages on the main Serene's Forest site; one has stats and modifiers, and the other has growth rates. I did also find this post here on the forums that you might be interested in; someone wrote a calculator for marriage planning. I don't know how in-depth it really is, but it might be worth looking into.
  9. Hey there, welcome to the forest! Glad to have you here! If you want to get into the older titles, FE7 is a great place to start. It does have permadeath, but it's an easy enough game to start out with that it's not really that big of an issue unless you're really bad at the game. Even then, the first 10 chapters or so have a system of permadeath where you lose the units for the rest of the first section of the game, but not the rest of the game (if I recall correctly). It's kinda like a semi-casual thing where they're gone for a while, but they come back for the player to use again later so you can kill them off for real this time. FE4 is also a fairly straightforward game, and you can save after every turn, so it's not like you have to redo an entire chapter just to try and keep one of your units alive. It's very player-friendly in that regard.
  10. I don't ever read fanfics, but I have experience in writing some. I think that fanfiction offers a great avenue for expressing creativity while also showcasing your interests in a particular thing. At lot of it works off the backbones of what others have created since it's inherently derivative, but I think it's potentially a good way to connect with others about a shared interest, whether that be in what you're writing about or the act of writing itself. Of course, my stance is coming from the angle of creating something that can add to the original work in some way or offer something new to experience, so I'm not exactly inclined towards the smut that comes out of it, but I think fanfiction is perfectly fine and acceptable otherwise, even if it's bad.
  11. I'd say Naga is a pretty clear choice for the strongest dragon that we know of based on her influence; the creation of multiple dragon-effective divine weapons are attributed to her (as well as the titular Fire Emblem), she's made at least two known blood pacts (with Heim and the First Exalt, and so they carry her Holy Blood), she created two clones of herself, and she's (probably) got some control over time and space. That doesn't necessarily say anything about how powerful she would be in combat, but like... c'mon, if she can do all of that, she's gotta be pretty strong. Honorable mention to Forseti for being able to resurrect and possess the (previously) dead.
  12. I can't say I've ever really cared for console exclusive games (except for Nintendo since that's their whole strategy to begin with). The more places something is available, the better. I've been avoiding the recent Final Fantasy titles in the hopes that they'll eventually be ported to PC so I can play them myself (and not shill out a bunch of money for a console that I would end up playing a single game on), so it's nice that I may not have to worry about that with the final FF7R game if this news stays true.
  13. FE4 remake is the most obvious guess, but part of me is hoping for Path of Radiance to get the Metroid Prime Remastered treatment. I remember he who shall not be named mentioned a PoR remaster would be coming, and that was years ago now (and was probably never true to begin with), but it's stuck with me ever since and I can't get that hope out of my head.
  14. FE6 through FE10 are consistently fantastic across all games, especially Sacred Stones and Path of Radiance. I'd pick Tellius as the overall best, and the GBA translates artstyles so beautifully. However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a soft spot for Engage, especially the Emblems. I love how vibrant all the colors are, and I feel it's very reminiscent of the GBA era in that regard.
