Perkilator
WARNING: This topic contains massive story spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Don’t click the any of the spoiler tabs unless you’ve played the game. This has been your warning. I haven't personally played Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but I do know about plenty of key moments due to my research for Smash. As far as gameplay, the idea I had in this case is Noah & Mio sharing a slot, similar to Pyra & Mythra, but they switch with Shield + B instead of Down + B. So what about how they actually play individually, as well as other Xenoblade 3-related content? That's what we're dipping into right now, with most of their moveset based on an article by Source Gaming. Main attributes + alts Spoiler Noah bears some similarities to his predecessor Shulk, but I'm going to be differentiating the two as much as possible. Noah's swordplay is decently swift and disciplined, and his massive Veiled Sword launches targets with ease, but his recovery and aptitude for racking up damage are rather middling. The area where Noah excels the most is making hard reads and ending stocks early, which are where his Blade shines. In truth, the Veiled Sword’s just a sheath for the Lucky Seven, a fierce katana that Noah reluctantly unleashes for his strongest attacks. The weapon’s strikes are fast and powerful, but whiffing them invites punishment. Thus, until the right opportunity presents itself, Noah relies on the Veiled Sword’s impressive reach to play a game of footsies. That being said, he’s only one half of a greater playstyle, so his weaknesses are especially pronounced. Commit too hard, fail to maintain your distance, or find yourself in a tough situation offstage, and Noah might just be the one whose soul needs a sendoff. Cnversely, Mio serves to draw the enemy’s attention and reliably avoid attacks. To that end, she brawls with a grace and poise more closely resembling Sheik. Her moveset is deceptive and great for starting combos and she has no trouble returning to the stage, but her lighter weight and inability to reliably take stocks can make things difficult in the late game. While Mio's lethality leaves a lot to be desired, don’t underestimate what she can do with her Dual Moonblades. Not only can they offer her attacks a fair bit of disjoint, but they’ll also put some work in as obnoxious projectiles to deal with. All in all, Mio’s a textbook hit-and-run fighter. She’s perfect for weaving in and out of foes’ range, constantly chipping away at them and interrupting their moves, yet her efforts are likely to only bear fruit if Noah can come in and finish the job. Their respective alts here are going to be unique compared to other fighters. In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, each character can switch classes, which also switches their outfit. For example, Noah can switch to the Medic Gunner and Heavy Gueard classes, which are the default classes of his friends Eunie and Lanz. Mio can switch to the Tactician and Ogre classes, which are the default classes of her firends Taion and Sena. Both characters where the outfits of those respective classes when switching to them, so I figured they would be natural choices for alternate costumes, though for Smash they wouldn't bear any gameplay differences. I also decided to throw in their military uniforms and their no-jacket appearances as alts, too. Swordfighter & Zephyr outfits (default) Medic Gunner & Tactician outfits Heavy Guard & Ogre outfits Keves & Agnus soldier uniforms Consul N (Swordfighter gold) & M (Zephyr grey) Melia (Medic Gunner black) & Nia (Tactician yellow) Ethel (Heavy Guard grey) & Cammuravi (Ogre orange) No jackets The player can also select Mio’s long hair (from Chapter 6 onwards) for any of her alts by pressing the Y on the character select screen. The stage itself would take place on one of the ships you could pilot to travel across the sea. The layout is one the back of the ship, which is facing away from the camera. The ship would occasionally tilt from left to right, and you can swim when the ship's not moving. When the ship is moving, you get pulled in the opposite direction the ship is pointing towards whiel you're in the water. If you hit the bottom of the ship, you get spiked. In a sense, it's similar to the Wuhu Island and Pirate Ship stages. Also on the ship are Eunie, Taion, Lanz, and Sena, all of whom react to K.O.'s in different ways.
