  1. Gonna work on getting some shots today, so I hope they're to your preference. Tbh I really just grab things at random that are of particular relevance to the story... or my Velthomer bias is showing. So if you or anyone else wants more on something/someone, let me know. I got them from eBay, but they were on sale when I got them. Also used copies, and the ones up now are also used copies but not on sale. They'd be about 300 USD with what's up there now. Not a price I would normally blow so much money on, but it's FE4 and I got impatient. >.>; It was also a seller I was familiar with, so that helped a lot on my purchase. The last volumes of gen 1 are paaainful. I do prefer gen 1 in the manga to gen 2, and I'd say I'm pretty split with this manga and the LI manga for gen 2. Gen 1 was perfect for me, story, character development and shipping preference (still disappointed Holyn and Beowulf weren't there, but I can't get everything). Well, this is a manga, so of course they have more time for development. With around 300 pages for the first six volumes, gen 1 got its worth. I'm wicked happy about how she went about characterizing Alvis, because I think she did absolutely perfect on him. No fire pun intended, but I get pretty fired up when I see Alvis hate. I really hope she changed some people's views on him. She gave both sides of the story, with Alvis and Sigurd both being with Diadora, and I loved them equally. Also happy she made more minor characters get tons of spotlight. A good chunk of volume seven is about Lex and Aira fighting Langbart. Also dramatic as hell, but I expected no less from the Battle of Barhara. The Battle of Barhara may even be my favorite part of this manga. - Edit: Will crop the camera shots and put them on a new post later. That way they get their own post and aren't mixed in with a lot of conversing again. Also, I've purchased a scanner instead of just throwing money at ink, and it should be with me in a few days. It was the cheaper situation, and hey; I'm cheap. Hopefully it's not a crappy scanner, because I'll be honest; I've never even heard of the brand in my life. Hopefully a scanner is a scanner and it'll work out.
  2. If by they you mean you mean Holsety Scans, no, they're not picking it back up. As of right now there's no translator for my scans that I'll be working on, but I'm still looking for someone. I've had two people offer to clean pages, one person to help me proofread, and the other person who offered to clean is willing to help with typesetting (I literally got these offers today so it's not late news), but obviously we need a translator first. I'm going to look around more after I actually get printer ink for the story mentioned prior in past posts. I was pretty upset when I found out the team stopped working on it too, and it really hadn't even crossed my mind to pick it up until I found the manga on sale online. Thankfully when I came back around into the FE community, I replayed FE4 and fell back in love with it... a lot harder this time. I guess a few years away from it did that to me. But yeah, as of right now, even when I scan, they'll just be raw pages until I can find a translator or two who can read kanji. I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking it's getting translated right away, because I can't promise that will happen so quickly. I CAN say once I have the means of scanning instead of using a camera that I can post more full raw pages, and I can drop previews around if I can get a translator while everyone works their part. - Raw shots are later than I wanted them to be, but at least I come bearing an update on the situation as mentioned above with getting offers for help getting it online and whatnot when I asked some people I know. We are slowly but surely getting somewhere...
  3. Those are my feelings half the time and thank you for finding a name for them. I assume you mean second gen pairs, since the scanned manga for this version covers all of that except Claude/Sylvia (which unfortunately gets significantly less time shown than the other gen 1 pairs). Trabant/Ethlin, one-sided on Trabant's part, comes in during volume six, so those parts aren't scanned yet. If you do need to know the gen 1 pairs, they're Sigurd/Diadora, Cuan/Ethlin, Aideen/Jamka, Lex/Aira, Eltshan/Lachesis, Fin/Lachesis, Levin/Fury, Sylvia/Claude, Azel/Tiltyu, and Brigid/Dew. There's also Alvis/Diadora, and seeing as Sigurd/Diadora is doomed to obvious things, Alvis/Diadora counts, I suppose (and Alvis really does love her, and she stays with him after Sigurd dies so). I wish I could say Alec/Noish. I really wish I could. But then again, there's nothing stopping me, nya ha. The gen 2 pairs are Celice/Yuria, Lakche/Shanan, Skasaher/Lana, Leaf/Nanna, Arthur/Fee (pretty sure I've seen some hints of Oifaye/Fee though? Not too sure), Sety/Tinny, Aless/Leen, Altenna/Arion (from what I've understood this seems to be covered), Johan and Johalva both like Lakche, and there's a bit of a love triangle with Lakche and Patty over Shanan. There's Yurius/Ishtar too, made much more blatant than in canon, but well, let's just say it doesn't... look... healthy... Or maybe I'm just jealous. At least for anyone who has read the Light Inheritors manga, we'll all be used to the little Arthur/Sety/Tinny/Fee family. :P The manga concludes up to chapter ten. There is no final chapter, and the manga ends with Alvis' death, as he speaks to Celice. There's a bit more (like two pages) after that, but there's no final battle with Yurius. The LI manga went up to chapter nine, making Trabant the final battle, whereas Alvis was the final battle in this version. Nope; you're correct in that they were cut from this manga. They were the author's least favorite characters. She did draw them in extra pages, but they are not in the storyline. You're welcome and thank you for the kind words! I'll try to get out more raws in the next of couple of days. If there's something you guys want specifically that I've already passed (such as something from gen 1), let me know and I'll post it with mention of what volume it's in (anytime; not just what I've passed as of right now). I can't guarantee when I'll be able to scan normally, so for now this'll have to do.
  4. He did actually; it was in the earlier volumes (not sure how much he said about it by memory though). He was crying but decided to believe Sigurd could change his destiny, and if I recall he didn't think there anything he could personally do about it. He just knew many of them were going to suffer a terrible fate. Claude does actually survive into the second gen in the manga though. He's locked up but freed by Alvis, and he goes to Celice's army, where Corpul and Leen meet him, [spoiler=actual manga spoiler]and he gives his staff to them to revive Celice who was killed by a possessed Yuria.
  5. I think he meant having to re-translate the entire manga to keep name consistency, not to edit over someone's translation; because yeah, that's extremely rude. Just erasing someone's text and putting your own. Which is why if I ever did want name consistency and changed several of them, I'd end up scanning the whole manga, from the beginning. That said, you might be right in that I should stick to what I'm used to, but that also means I may or may not redo the first volumes; though that will be after I've finished the entire manga from where it was left off. More of a possible after project, as I'd have to have the whole thing re-translated because I am not taking Tomoyo's team's work. Also, I'll probably work on Thracia 776 after all this, since I already have volume one. Delphi, unfortunately, I don't have that answer, but hopefully someone does. Wouldn't surprise me though, because Japanese writers and artists do like to reference each other's work in the business. - Volume 8 and 9 stuff, otherwise known as the volumes of death and destruction and tears. Also fuck you Azel for ruining what was left of my heart. I fucking loved you, man. (No harm done here besides my broken heart; I still love Azel.) Compared to volume 6 being loaded with Trabant and volume 7 being loaded with Lex and Aira and then Trabant again, volume 8 is loaded with Azel. Also, it seems Manfloy did actually also cry. Briefly. Very briefly. But Levin (especially Levin) and Alvis crying buckets is more important, let's be honest. Serious kudos to the author though. I don't think I've ever been so invested in fight scenes, but this manga is ridiculously intense for the entirety of the Battle of Barhara. Lots of family drama and even more tears between volumes 8 and 9. [spoiler=Cue one bad fire joke] Sigurd is fallin' apart in Alvis' arms tonight... What's left of him is falling apart... But in all seriousness, this was an especially sad scene. Sigurd was nothing but pleasant to him and didn't hate him at all for what happened to Diadora, even offering him his hand to help Alvis stand. As soon as their hands came into contact the scene was switched and we're shown Fury (as Levin is dying) and Diadora's horrified faces. We don't actually see Sigurd get burned, so I guess a good portion of the fire jokes are out on this one. That didn't exactly stop me as seen above, of course... After the battle, the only survivors who didn't run away are shown standing/sitting together (Claude, Sylvia, Brigid, Midir and Dew). The scene skips to Levin talking to the second gen kids when they're children and Alvis becoming emperor, then skips to a very young Yurius killing Diadora, in which Alvis practically begs him to stop just before he does. Well, we know how far that got. Diadora dies thinking of Sigurd. From there it just skips into gen 2 for the rest of the volume.
  6. I'm fifty/fifty on that, but that's probably what I'd do. I think the only name that I'm really "changing" is Eltoshan back to Eltshan, because they previously went back and forth with it, so I know it's been used. Other than that, I believe I don't have change intention. Briggid/Brigid isn't really important at all. Tbh I wouldn't worry about going too fast. 10-30 pages a week really doesn't sound too bad, and I personally prefer getting the raws out one chapter at a time. That way there's at least something to look at instead of waiting for like a month for the entire thing, only to have to wait again. - In other news, I come bearing gifts, and by gifts I mean shitty camera pictures to make up for lack of a scanner atm. My camera's kind of a pain in the ass so I didn't grab many, but I'll keep them coming bit by bit. The ones here are from volumes 6-7. In which I use commentary to make myself feel better because... this fucking manga.
  7. Yeah, I mean, I could change names for consistency's sake based on the ones I'd use, but I'd probably leave most alone. While I'm preferable to, say, Tiltyu as the spelling, Tailto's her actual JP name and thus I should probably go with that, seeing as how I'm using Yurius/Yuria (which is actually also their romanized name spellings in these books. I think Tinny's the only one I'd really stick to fan translation wise, even though I know her JP name is Teeny). That's the plan. People aren't waiting on what we already have, so I'd rather chuck out what we're all waiting on. I can safely say I am also waiting, because I can't translate this on my own. That didn't stop it from completely obliterating my sleep schedule, of course. Maybe I can get some semi-crappy camera shots before I can scan things.
  8. Yeah, I'm kinda in the mindset of "no need to fix what isn't broken". If anyone can help me find a cleaner and translator (I can translate a few things myself but the kanji is a killer and as stated previously, there's no furigana which is even more of a killer), that's about all I'd really need if we want to get this properly translated and put online and whatnot. I can proofread and typeset, and while normally that'd be a lot of work including scanning, well, it's FE4. I can manage. In other news, this manga is shit full of people crying and I think only like... Manfloy didn't cry at some point. This manga is painful. Seeing Yurius and Alvis cry breaks my soul, forget just my heart. Also, just going to put it out there that the manga ends at chapter ten (versus the LI manga's chapter nine), with Alvis' death (volume sixteen ends with that). I only skimmed everything as of now, but I saw no indication of Yurius dying. Whew. Safe! Unless it's because I didn't try to translate and he actually killed himself in which case not safe.
  9. THANK YOU AND IT ARRIVED AT MY DOOR TODAY. In fact, I was trying to sleep (at nearly three in the afternoon? Girl, what are you doing? I know, right.) but fuck that, my dad dropped the box off in my room and I got the hell outta bed to open it. I think the fact that it was raining outside and the fact that the box was wet eased my burden of trying to cut through the masses of tape, only for me to have to go through intense amounts of TAPPED bubble wrap. (Me: Hey look, there's volume one. I opened it on the right end of the bubble wrap!) Then after the bubble wrap matter was settled, OH BOY. THEY'RE WRAPPED TOGETHER IN PLASTIC WITH 1-4, 5-10, AND 11-16. I have never had more of an adventure trying to open manga, I swear to you. In fact, it'd be kinda strange if nobody in the house realized I swung out of bed to open this because I made a lot of noise trying to get the books out of everything. Checked the books since they were used copies, but they seem in really good form, so they won't be a disaster to scan or for someone to clean. Now all that's left is to get that dumb printer working. Gotta check to see if it needs colored or black ink, but I think it needs color. Unfortunately. Since colored ink costs a lot more. BUT as soon as that's out of the way I can start scanning a few raws to get everyone by as I go over scanning what wasn't scanned of volume six yet. As far as what I'm scanning, I'm not going to bother with the first 37 chapters. Holsety Scans took care of them and I really see no need to go over them and put them up again. However, I do want to ask what people think is best: To leave those chapters alone since hell, they're already done, or if I should just scan them all anyway and have them redone to fit in with the rest of my scans. If it's up to me, I'm just leaving them as is. I may consider just redoing them laaaater after the rest of the manga is out of the way, but meh. There's nothing particularly wrong about the scans we have now, and the quality is really good. Plus, if I started scanning at volume one that would take time for me to scan things we already have. In other news, I don't know where the hell I'm going to put these books because I already have... too much manga and no room to put these. OTL Oh well. I guess they're staying on my computer desk. What a shame. -Pokes books- Pretty art. But too much Trabant in volume six.
  10. It should be okay once it has ink. The problem is that it has an error message for not having enough black or color ink, and it doesn't do anything except show that message, so the scanner won't even work. Once it has ink it SHOULD be good to go or I'll have to buy a scanner... which I hope isn't the case. I'll let you all know once the manga reaches me though. I am also looking forward to seeing it, so the wait is gonna kill me. I swear the days were passing by so fast until I bought this. Thanks for all the good luck. I look forward to crying about this manga over basically everything and having you all cry with me. :'D
  11. I tend to make fun of half my level ups or rage at them. Sometimes someone will level up for me just fine, then someone dies so I load state, then that person levels up again and gets no stats up and THAT'S when I succeed in whatever I'm doing. Tbh I've always preferred character commentary myself over gameplay, with a bit of gameplay commentary. But that's just what I enjoy more, and seeing people better learn about characters. Azel really is, though. Even before promotion he wrecks shit, and when he's promoted and on horseback oh please pray for the enemies. Pray that they survive a battle with him so your other units who are weaker can get experience off them. Oddly enough, FE4 is the only game I am totally okay with putting magic types in the front lines. Considering how hard the game is, I used to think that was a bad idea, but they tend to do better for me in the front lines than my other units do. Sometimes I even have to AVOID putting Levin and Azel in the front because nobody else will get to do anything. I do love my magic types, I do...
  12. I'd totally do commentary for FE4 but in the case of Aideen I'm a huge Aideen/Jamka shipper, so I can't help you in the Midir/Aideen department. :P Also, I hope you're training Azel well. -Incredibly Velthomer biased-
  13. Indeed, Midir is a guy. Tbh, a lot of people seem to have confused his gender at first. Midir does actually like her, so I guess you weren't too far off. :P
  14. Update of the verdict: Bought the whole manga set. It'll be with me within the month. Bye 200 dollars. You were well spent. As soon as I get ink for the printer/scanner I have since it's dumb as we've gone over, I'll throw a few raw scans out. Can't promise when that'll be, and it'll take a while to get the whole thing up (those volumes are like 300 pages per volume and I have eleven volumes to scan if I do scan it all so y e a h). In the meantime, I will take comfort in knowing I've never spent so much money in one purchase for anything before FE4...
  15. I don't dismount him anyway, so I guess it really doesn't matter. XD; Tbh I never even looked at Deirdre's skills because I never use her. Speed playthroughs even without glitches I don't find to be all that hard, really. The only problem is pairing people off imo. It's sometimes difficult to keep certain units together when trying to fight, so I personally tend to use the down time between seizing castles to focus on that. All in all though, at least from my experience, the game feels longer than it really is because of the mass enemy count. By the time you wipe out a huge section of enemies, usually in my games it would only take up, say, five-ish turns. I might attempt some glitches next game though, since I've never bothered with them yet. I've mostly just done straight through playthroughs and rarely look into different things (coughsthesubkids).
  16. You shouldn't have to worry too much about this, since only Celice can dismount in this game, but I guess you'll just have to be careful with that. It's never happened to me because I never bothered dismounting, so I've never had this problem. The only time I'd dismount him is if I saw a ton of enemies with horseslayers (which tbh half the time I don't even pay attention to my enemies' weapons which is actually really dumb but sometimes I can't be bothered), and even then I'd just move him to some other group of enemies.
  17. As the above comment states, don't worry about Dew's money. You can sell her staff and use it with someone else, and if you give it to say, Aideen, it'll pass down to Lana. Pretty sure if you give it to Levin it'll pass down to Sety if Levin is Sety's father (and Levin himself can use staves once promoted). I've never given it to Ethlin, but it should pass down to Leaf if you give it to her, and Leaf can heal once promoted (as well as use Sleep and Silence). Unfortunately I totally forgot to do this so that Silence staff is going to the abyss of nothingness for me (but you can get one again for gen 2).
  18. If you're worried about people spoiling game mechanics for you, you should probably state that in the OP. Comments like those are meant to be helpful, and while I wouldn't do it if you mentioned it beforehand, I've never had someone tell me they were spoiled about character usage. As for Alvis, I won't get into a discussion about him because it's still too early in the game to have a proper discussion about his character. Also, when I came back to this topic I realized you were playing FE4/5/4, but you wrote chapter 6. Just so you know, if you're going by the timeline between 4 and 5, it's after chapter five and before six that Thracia 776 happens. I'm not sure how you'll go about playing them like that on a blind run, but eh, I guess that's what this topic is for.
  19. Are you looking to just input cheats, play an already made hack, or make your own hack?
  20. If he's at level 18 in chapter three, then yeah, it makes sense that he's not getting experience. I don't think I ever had this happen during gen 1, but it happened a lot for me in gen 2; most specifically with Shanan in the arena and Fin in chapter seven.
  21. FE4 will crash at the ending. You just need to remove the translation patch before seizing Barhara Castle and it'll be fine. I've never had my Thracia game crash, but if it does for you, I'd recommend just removing the translation patch at that part it crashes at As for the translation, I'm really not picky. They translated the story and plenty of other things. It wasn't perfect, but translating and patching an entire game is not easy. Imo it's much better than nothing. I'd be grateful if they or someone picked up where they left off and updated the patch, just adding in all the things on the menu and the like that weren't finished. I'd do it if I knew how to patch games, but ha ha no that's way beyond me. And that's why I'm so grateful people gave us what they did, because it's definitely not something I could do, as much as I hope to be able to someday.
  22. Shanan has always done pretty good for me considering the amount of mounted units in FE4. He did me a world of good in the final chapter, and I'd say Lex!Lakche is pretty close. But as Sigurd said, Shanan's the man. Even without Balmung, he's never failed me. Navarre does save my ass a lot, and Rutger would be another top choice, but I'd still probably stick with Shanan in the end (and since I like taking the stubborn way out in the final chapter and I try to avoid using Julia for as long as possible, Shanan's my ace here, and Lakche backs him up, so I wouldn't say Lakche's number one).
  23. Fin will get better. Once he gets his Hero Lance, he'll wipe out plenty of enemies. Unfortunately in ALL MY FILES EVER EVEN ON THRAICA the enemies just go for Fin and he's like the local punching bag (which is pretty dangerous with a Hero Lance, when he kills all of the guys going after him and they just keep coming...). Thankfully he has the Prayer skill to back himself up, because he seems to attract enemies worldwide on my games... Sure, Alvis is chill! I actually really liked his conversation with Sigurd about Azel. He's an OP motherfucker and will fuck up your enemies if they get in his way (no, seriously, he will. That's a nice goodbye to much needed EXP), and he's a sweetheart. As far as Lex goes, I don't know if you'd ever go on without someone, but if you ever do, don't let it be Lex. He'll be your tank right alongside Sigurd in later chapters. Once he promotes it'll be a tough job for anyone to kill him who doesn't use magic. He's pretty good at dodging (not like Ethlin, who I swear is a dodging goddess on my files), but if he doesn't, his defense will make up for it. Plus he's got handy skills, so I'd recommend making him one of your big guys here.
  24. This is why I wasn't sure if you hadn't realized Midir is a guy. So in all your luck, you can pair them! Ahhh, I like Alec too much to let him die. Then again, I'm one of those people who resets when even characters I will never use die. Restarting is good.
  25. That's a dangerous tool, put that down. I don't think this is a spoiler but I just find this comment funny based on his type of magic. I'm not sure if this was serious or just a joke on Midir's appearance and gender. - In other news, FE4 let's plays are nice. Play it, have fun, don't look back, let it possess your soul and consume your FE thoughts-- I mean, just have fun! <3 I replayed this game for the first time in years and I don't know what happened to me but fff please enjoy this game like no other! I promise it's fantasssstic!
