  1. Didn't Deoxys "debut" in Gen III but have its "payoff" in Gen IV? Or maybe I could be misremembering that. Of course I suppose that comparison isn't entirely fair, since Zygarde isn't exactly on the level of something like Deoxys or Shaymin.
  2. The tag the Pokémon Company is using is #PokemonSunMoon. Of course, I've also seen plenty of "Pokemon Moon Moon" jokes. Something to keep in mind for these games is that Pokémon has an extremely time-honored tradition of hinting at ordinary future-generation 'mons while still in the current generation, going all the way back to Togepi's appearance in certain first-generation resources. While admittedly we are a bit anemic on the side of new information, we have enough to consider Sun/Moon a very likely Gen VII. . . . by the way, I want to point out something else that separates X/Y from Sun/Moon: their Japanese logos. For X and Y, the "n" kana is stylized with the Mega Evolution symbol, a feature that ended up the defining hallmark Gen VI's mechanical contributions (alongside the clear makeover of the Type chart). For Sun and Moon, though, that same kana is instead stylized with a crystalline-looking item, which is colored differently for the different versions. I wonder what this could mean . . . ?
  3. I was in the mood for bullet hell last night so I decided to fire up PCB Extra. The stage up to Chen is extremely punishing as usual, but as soon as I got to Ran I made it all the way to the last seconds of Kokuri-san's contract. A few replay attempts later and I made it to Ran again . . . and died to Izuna Gongen while she was exploding. That was the point where I decided to call it a night.
  4. Oh hey, it seems I chose a good time to visit SF again. So, yeah. Assuming 1111 for the Mii Characters, there are only two characters in the current game that are deserving of each of the S and F rankings. Incidentally, there are also only two characters that I felt belonged in D, and my selection for A totaled six. That basically sums up the current Smash roster in a nutshell. There were some characters I rated C that may have actually been B, but no matter how you slice it, the vast majority of the roster is in that middle area.
  5. Physiology is the study of organic bodies. The questions you ask are philosophy.
  6. . . . I'm sorry for dredging this up, but while everybody is making Corn jokes and complaining of FE/sword over-representation (tl;dr Lucina has the most blame; she should have been Marth's Wireframe Mac), am I the only one who remembers that this is the same character who was not above giving his own once-removed cousin* hallucinogenics without her knowledge or consent in order to marry her, and concerned that (in addition to most of the reasons everybody else is complaining about) such a character would be given the honor of the choice to join Smash in the first place (for what could no doubt be at least partially promotional reasons)? ---- Regarding the future of Smash Bros., I . . . fear? That we may be seeing the series' peak right now. For all its misgivings, Smash 4 is far and away the best game in not only its own franchise, but in the entire subgenre that said franchise invented in the first place! While there are certainly a lot of things that could have been implemented much better, this game being created in the first place, and DLC being developed only firmly after completion (of the 3DS version, at least) feels like something of a perfect storm, and those numbers showed at the end of the video presentation were mighty impressive indeed. The development team went all-out, and got a peak number of things right. I'm just saying I'm going to be utterly heartbroken if Smash 5 happens and Sun Goku is included amongst the 20% of the cast in the on-disc DLC, you know? Smash 4 life. ---- [spoiler=* (legit spoilers maybe, I looked this one up)]Azura!Soleil would be Corrin's first cousin, once-removed. I originally said "niece" but then I looked up how cousins work and it's a bit complicated so if you don't know then perhaps you avoided the spoilers after all?
  7. It is also worth noting that, very impressively for a 50+ roster game, the disparity in character power levels takes a major back seat to most differences in player skill level. So, really, any and all discussion of character power differentials make it seem much more exacerbated than it actually is, never mind the fact that it is inevitably influenced by the metagame anyway. This game offers different things for different people.
  8. That sounds incredibly luxurious! How do you guys feel about tea with lime instead of lemon? Any particular ingredients or tea varieties you think would compliment that better?
  9. All these points deserve reiterating. Perhaps I'm biased, though, as my favorite is another fox-like Fire-type. Oh, and of course my favorite mythical 'mon is a certain other Fire-and-Psychic-type.
  10. Status update: Milky Tea is probably not my thing. I forgot how much of an acquired taste drinking milk straight is, and the flavor of the tea doesn't exactly overpower it or even help that much. Prolly sticking to water from here on in.
  11. Quite a few other Vulpix/Ninetales fans here. I feel like I'm in good company! My favorite starter is Cyndaquil. I main Charizard in Smash Bros. I probably won't pick up Pokken, but if I did, Charizard's playstyle seems similar enough there for me to pick up.
  12. Ooh, just wait until Xanadu of Straight and Curve!
  13. I mean, I disagree somewhat. You do have to be cognizant of when and where you can and should learn which spells; that much forethought would trivialize any game in this genre.
  14. There was a theory going around that every song that appears in Undertale gameplay is the same song played at different speeds and soundfonts. While this is a gross exaggeration (I don't think any of the other songs have remotely the same sequences as Megalovania, for starters), once you notice that you can link, for example, Dogsong with both the first encounter theme and with Temmie Village, you will start to wonder whether or not you can count the number of unique tracks on one hand. BTW, Spooktunes are dead.
  15. Oh come on, there's no way that Hourai Jewel is harder than Brilliant Dragon Bullet, or even Apollo 13.
  16. There are people who would argue in favor of a Magic build. I am not one of them (Dexterity is my damage stat of choice), and Agility and Luck are must-haves regardless.
  17. There are a lot of easter eggs in the name selection screen, depending on the names you input. A "hard mode demo" is among them. (Be forewarned that looking up a list of easter egg names may be somewhat spoilery; you-know-who from true pacifist brings up a silent objection, for instance.)
  18. Allegedly, choosing the first/top option for every choice menu is the simplest way to get Neutral. So, if you're the kind of person who loves blazing through your dialogue . . . ---- My interest in this title increased to positive values upon seeing the Lennon lyrics on the main character's uniform. I wonder what he'd think? SMTIV's gameplay is pretty darn solid, but Tokyo is boring and it is a chore to wade through the pretentiousness of this series.
  19. I mean, default names for characters in RPGs aren't typically spoilers. What would definitely be spoilerriffic, however, would be [spoiler=this.]noting the difference between Frisk and Chara. This being said, yes, they were certainly made intentionally gender-ambiguous. This is why I opt for "they" pronouns when referring to them.
  20. From my experiences playing against them: Kae is fun. Kyoko is anti-fun. Krila is basically a Saki that wants to play We Are Waruda; can over-heal. Alte is played exclusively by achievement hunters and/or bigots.
  21. I am tamar.samar on Steam. It'd be cool to organize some games next week. I am an Aru main. My secondary is whoever I am trying to unlock achievements with at the time.
  22. Something fascinating I find about Undertale pacifist is how it manages to portray an incredibly diverse spectrum of relationships. [spoiler=Straight]Dogamy and Dogaressa[spoiler=Also (name spoilers)]A historical example with Toriel and Asgore, though they are now very clearly divorced. [spoiler=Gay]Royal Guards 01 and 02 [spoiler=Lesbian (plot-relevant spoilers)]Undyne and Alphys Alphys is also an example of bisexuality. . . . a friend of mine joked it even included narcissistic. [spoiler=In case you couldn't figure that one out]It's Papyrus Also, there is a very heavily-implied transgender character in the form of [spoiler=Actually pretty freaking spoiler-heavy since you need to do some obscure stuff to see some of the hints]Mettaton It brings shame to quite a few bigger titles that such a comparatively tiny game manages to represent so much within it.
  23. Honestly, the only Eastern MMO that mattered was FFXI. The way the Mithra were sold was pretty fanservicey, but I remember hearing somewhere that the Hume Female model was based on one of the directors' preferences in women. So . . . devservice?
