  1. Shulk definitely has the Kirby matchup . . . so long as Kirby never gets ahold of Monado Arts. Easily one of the top 3 scariest specials a Kirby can copy. Shulk in general: Speed Art is generally used as a better Buster Art, as while your damage per hit goes down, you can pile it on much faster while not being vulnerable to increased damage yourself. Use Buster after Speed in your neutral approach, especially if you can Monado Arts cancel your aerial landing lag. Jump Art is amazing in any state that isn't neutral. Smash Art is Smash Art (particularly notorious for granting lethal Visions, even without access to Power Vision). I have never seen Shield Art used for anything other than durdling unproductively. Vision is a good Counter variant. If you augment it with Smash Art or inputting the direction of the incoming attack (while on the ground), it becomes a shockingly reliable KO move for a Counter. (And this is before we even get into something like Power Vision!) Backslash is silly. Basically don't use it unless you want to cancel your momentum and get the hardest of reads at the same time. In general it's just not a reliable move, no matter how much newer Shulks are really feeling it. How I see the Shulk matchup with my characters: Yoshi: Shulk gets eaten up by eggs, massively dissonant frame data, and in some cases, literally by Yoshi himself. Similar to Ike, just be careful not to get read and you'll be fine. Of course, look for openings to exploit weaknesses in Monado Arts not named Speed. Charizard: Shulk's massive range make approaching with Flamethrower somewhat chancy; that being said, if Shulk decides he wants to sanic into you, giving him a face full of fire should burn him out. Exploit your grab range and punish any end-lag he incurs; punish with attacks only if you're absolutely sure you're safe from Vision. If you see an up-tilt string in your future, give Shulk a face full of rock to get him to stop that. His recovery is mad readable--if you can get him far enough off stage, a properly-timed down-air will sink both the Monado Boy and his hopes. Robin: Spacing spacing spacing. Never get into a sword fight with Shulk if you can avoid it. As always, let him come to you. Try to intercept him with Arcfire/your custom of choice. If he's bad and gets further into your personal space than he really should, Wind Jab and down-throw strings are applicable punishes, or even Nosferatu in extreme situations. The range of the Monado vs. the Levin Sword puts Shulk at a massive advantage in the air, even with his huge startups. Robin's aerials are scarier to be hit by, but you'll need to combo into them one way or another. Probably the toughest matchup listed so far, but very doable if you're the more patient player. Mii Swordfighter: A harder matchup than Robin; Monado Boy has, like, twice your range, and at any given time does any one thing better than you. At least your aerials are much faster, though, so it is possible to catch him off guard. Milk every last drop out of your projectile moves. Your Counter is more "spammable" than his, so try to get a read on when he tries to get the drop on you (not recommended vs. Speed Art, like, at all). Victory is possible if you can punish mistakes, but this is not a matchup I like at all.
  2. She makes several characters approach her and can punish them for doing so. Clearly she's not the best zoner in the game (RosaLuma anyone?), but she can hold her own and outcamp just as many characters as can outcamp her.

  4. You do not know pain until attempting to capture Saigyouji Flawless Nirvana with Yuyuko solo. I went something like 1/1300+ on that nonsense. Everyone else's solo mirror matches were trivial by comparison.
  5. That is just a matter of time, though. I mean if you wanted to make the most of your turns there is nothing wrong with having multiple agents to expedite things, since after a certain point increasing the rate of exp gain just becomes overkill no matter how you slice it. You still want to reach that point, though.
  6. How do you prepare milk teas? I get that the general idea is to replace the water with milk, but does that mean you want to boil the milk most of the time as well? Tea preparation is not a thing I have a lot of experience with, but I do think the potential for personal customization is sorely under-appreciated, particularly with the abundance of pre-prepared recipes like Earl Grey. I mean, Arnold Palmer is making bank because nobody else bothered to try a tea and lemonade mix? It just goes to show that outside the box is still a very under-explored area when it comes to teas, even with the currently massive number of extant tea blends.
  7. If that first option was rearranged to "Vanilla Bean Red Tea" I'd be all over it.
  8. I would argue most matchups in general come down to player skill in this game. My argument continues to be that Sheik is a boogeyman just because some highly skilled players think that she is good. It's essentially a self-fulfilling prophecy. As for how I deal with Link personally . . . I'll reiterate that Links who actually know how to space are a nightmare to fight against. My best bets are basically my Charizard (projectile-eating special attacks) or my Yoshi (just a good character at breaking into zones in general, plus if I'm using Egg Lay instead of Lick, Link still sinks).
  9. I mean, given the nature of how Fire Emblem works (juggernaut > army), the vast majority of units in any given game are completely unnecessary. It is really up to the player to decide whether they want to actually use any given non-mandatory unit or not, or spare them from combat entirely.
  10. While I'm not sure about the whole circus thing, the rest of Clownpiece's design is actually brilliant. Her fashion was inspired by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin! I did have a list that had my favorite music for each part of the (typical integered Widnows) Touhou game. While I have not yet compared the LoLK soundtrack, here is where each other games currently stand: 4 best tracks: DDC 3 best tracks: MoF 2 best tracks: PCB, IN, SA 1 best track: UFO, TD (you could probably guess which ones, too) 0 best tracks: EoSD
  11. Ah, tournament drama, one of the telltale faults of humanity. Right alongside herd mentality. I still think some of you in particular are overstating how good Sheik is (for starters, there is no way that 50/50 is her worst matchup). I know what a neutral game is, I know that Sheik can follow up forever for incremental amounts of damage and that's annoying and all, but can you guys re-read your posts and tell me honestly that you are not exaggerating how good Sheik is even a little? For whatever it's worth, a good Rosalina and Luma player should beat a good Sheik player. Sheik is just fast and safe (appended from "just fast" with persuasion); Rosaluma is actually broken. Side note: the poll for this thread explicitly said to put customs under consideration. Rosaluma does also get more from custom moves (Luma Warp, Shooting Star Bit) than Sheik does (Penetrating Needles, Gravity Grenade?).
  12. Remember, remember, the 9th of November . . . Also screw Kaizo, we have music blocks! Now anyone can make their own Automatic Mario pieces!
  13. Looking at each format as a game of its own, "Odin's Sphere" arguably has the most depth to it. I'd ask about children but I guess that is just as much a play agreement as the rest of it. However, while Fates is miles away more (PvP) balanced than Awakening, several factors remain that, especially with grinding in the picture, indicate that it was not made with PvP in mind.
  14. The Handling stat has some serious diminishing returns when faced with physical limitations. My Inkbrush and Octobrush swiping speeds are effectively identical, and thus if I had to use a brush weapon, then I do not effectively have any reason not to pick the Octobrush.
  15. If I were to answer the title of this thread, I would probably say that I am the kind of gamer who likes to have time to think through his decisions. I am also the kind who makes a point to go in the direction he is supposed to go last. I have mentioned this before elsewhere, but I never got anywhere the one time I tried playing Super Mario 64.
  16. I could never stand that about most fighting games (including Melee)--if your dexterity isn't as fast as your opponent, you may as well not even bother. That's the one thing I like about having Robin as a main, actually. They help with slowing an opponent like a crazy Captain Falcon player down to my level of speed. Unfortunately does jack squat against someone with spacing options like Link, though.
  17. I seriously don't get the community's obsession with Sheik. Seriously: "wins literally every matchup"? Are you kidding me? Tell that to my Charizard--I don't think it got the memo. And it's not just Sheik either! Sonic? Pikachu? Look, guys, I get it, I know that speed is good and all, but a good character needs to have some KO moves, too! Actually, quite frankly, how is anybody on our S list who isn't Rosaluma any better than Yoshi?
  18. They're badly underestimating Charizard. TBH they badly underestimated Charizard even before all the buffs. No, but she's not much better than that, either . . .
  19. Interesting which characters fell into the D-rank, including both the heaviest and the lightest characters in the game. Two of my mains are there, too.
  20. Nope. I only even know it exists through reading accounts of it thirdhand.
  21. Links that are actually good at spacing are tough cookies to fight against. Anybody want to play on 3DS? I want to play around with my Mii Fighters some.
  22. Disappointed to find that a ska Broken Moon remix was apparently removed from Youtube while I was not looking. Shame because it really worked.
  23. More like, mashing ZR is physically uncomfortable to me, but if other people want to do that then hey, that's their prerogative. What about players that have something like, say, diabetic neuropathy? Would your suggestion to them be to "git gud" with the Sloshers as well? Personally, I'm doing just fine with my automatic Shooters, anyway. Maybe I'll try the Splatling some time since that isn't nearly as uncomfortable to use--it's basically an automatic weapon that you have to prepare, instead of firing on demand. It helps that it takes minimal charge to splat someone or cover a corner area.
