  1. Honestly, I found it more useful than Renewal for most characters. Most characters Magic Growth + Base + Promo Bonuses were still more than Renewal's % of their max HP, so it often healed more. But to respond the the original question, I would love to have the Heroes' proc skills in the main series. I would prefer SoV style of proc, since cooldown may not work as well for the main series.
  2. I have no issue with starting, though I'm not against waiting if everyone else wants to.
  3. Vanguard Arthur, and maybe make Corrin +Atk/-Res
  4. I miss light mages (and by extension, light magic). I always loved the idea of holy mages smiting enemies. Although I wouldn't want it back without reworking the magic triangle to not be worthless.
  5. I would be interested in seeing Micaiah's specialties being emphasized, specifically boosting her magic even more. She can function as a magical nuke, but is held back by having restrictive caps early and poor availability later. I would be interested in seeing how she would fare with a >20 magic cap in Part 1 and a 100% magic growth. Since she can barely double, it wouldn't make her unbalanced by any means, and it only strengthens her later game Thani bombing, as well as Purge sniping. It also assists her in hitting Ashera at all (40, capped magic as a Light Priestess + Rexaura (12 mt) = 52 damage - Ashera's 50 RES = 2 damage). Finally, her Light Priestess magic cap could be raised to 45/50, and it wouldn't damage Endgame balance, because even with that power behind her, she still isn't one-shotting non-armors/horses. You could do other things like giving her Creidlydad after defeating Sephiran, giving the DB more chapters in Part 3, and upping her Tier 2 promo gains to help her stay relevant.
  6. Ultimately, for this topic, I was referring to how a future FE game would play with doubling being locked to initiating. I realize that this wouldn't work for many of the games in the series (I shudder at the idea of this in SoV), but I feel like it could work well in a game balanced around it.
  7. You bring up good points, especially that it would be a benefit to brave weapons and ally strikes. Yeah, that was what my thought process was. I felt that this change would shift focus towards the player phase, but only if the enemies weren't dense clusters of nothing. DSFE enemy quality, however, could make this system work much better, so long as their numbers weren't too high.
  8. An idea that had crossed my mind for a while was revamping how the follow-up mechanic worked. The major change would be that player units could only double on player phase, and enemies could only double on enemy phase. The idea behind this would be to shift focus towards the player phase, but I'm wondering how this would effect slower units. Also, how would this change effect the importance of other stats?
  9. Since Radiant Dawn is my favorite Fire Emblem game, I've thought long about what I would do to improve Radiant Dawn's story. A lot of what I would do revolves around refocusing the Parts to emphasize more or less about certain characters or plot lines. Part 1 Define Sothe more beyond being Micaiah's weird son/lover. I can't really say much more about him other than he's an orphan who was raised by Micaiah, idolizes Ike, and has doesn't really do much for the plot. One thing RD could take from SoV is letting certain characters interact more with the plot. While Sothe talks a lot, he doesn't say much, if that makes sense. Maybe this is just me. Give Pelleas more focus. For who is supposed to be Daein's king, he isn't very important. And to some level, this is good, as it emphasizes the fanatic devotion towards Micaiah. However, it also leaves Pelleas a bit forgettable, and when his sacrifice comes up, it's hard to care too much. Use his time in Part 1 to develop what he feels he, as a king, should do, and build a genuine relationship between him and Micaiah. And with Almehda as well. You could even have him become playable in Endgame with little issue. Use the base conversations to develop the Dawn Brigade more. I really want to care about them, even a little bit. Especialy characters like Fiona, who are tied to the Four Riders, and Nolan, who is cool. Overall, Part 1 is pretty strong story wise, with the game difficulty assisting to build the oppressive, underdog-esque storyline. It just fails in building the basis for the later parts, but I would call that more of a problem with Part 3. Part 2 Why are all of the Begnion characters here? They don't need to be here, they shouldn't be here, leave. Marcia, Astrid, Makalov, and Danved should be in Begnion, because it doesn't make much sense why they are in Crimea. Without them, Part 2 could have about the same amount of members as Part 1 (Elincia, Leanne, Nealuchi, Haar, Brom, Nephennee, Heather, Lucia, Mordecai, Lethe, Geoffrey, Kieran, Calill, Largo, Bastian, Volke). Of course, not all of these characters would be playable (Bastian/Volke aren't) but Largo could be added back in. I actually don't mind Haar here though, since he's more free-spirited and not united with anyone really. The overall storyline is good, and Elincia's arc is solid, but it doesn't feel very connected to the main plot, which is fine, but it could be better. One of the senators (Valtome?) could very easily be allied with Ludveck to establish a Begnion-supporting ruler in Crimea. It wouldn't change too much, and would still allow Elincia to go through her arc. Use 2-P through 2-2 to build the feeling of turmoil in Crimea. Especially 2-1, which just teases the idea. 2-3, without the Begnion characters, only has Geoffrey, Kieran, Calill, and Largo, so Geofffrey's assault feels more daunting. Gameplay may be adjusted accordingly. After Elincia accepts Lucia's fate, have Bastian/Volke come in to the rescue, with the Royal Knights. I feel like this allows Lucia's rescue to feel more in Crimea's hands, and less thanks to Ike appearing in. I don't know, maybe this is just me. I really like Part 2, but I want it to be a bit tighter and to remove the Begnion characters, to allow them elsewhere. Part 3 Okay, so idea: cut out some of the filler Greil Mercenary chapters, and give them to Sanaki. Lemme explain. Sanaki, having heard word of her Senate's actions, along with Sephiran's imprisonment, voices her objections. The Senate, while she speaks, vows to stop. Later that night, Sanaki is in her bedroom, when suddenly a stranger appears and he tells her that the Senate plans on capturing/assassinating her and using her as a martyr to further theiur goals. They must escape, and reach Gallia to assert to the Laguz Royals that she is not accepting this. In her chapters, the other Begnion characters come along, because that makes sense. It also lets Sanaki be a fourth and final lord, and completes the color alignment that I like so much (Ike - Blue Flame, Elincia - Yellow Flame, Sanaki - Red Flame, Micaiah - White Flame/Dawn). Ike's chapters are fine, if not a bit boring. Hopefully, by cutting down on some of Ike's more filer-y chapters, we can make the sections feel swifter. Micaiah's chapters are good. If anything, I would just continue developing her relationship with Pelleas. Also, introduce the Blood Pact with more defined terms. I don;t think it is a bad plot point in concept, but in execution, it is used to explain away certain motives. Give it defined limits and powers, so it can be accepted as a legitimate tactic. Have Pelleas's sacrifice be possible on the first playthrough. By that, I mean, have the choice be sacrifice him or not. And depending on your choice you get Pelleas or Almehda as a playable character. Of course, also change the situation to make the choice important as well. My changes are more dramatic in Part 3, but Part 3 is also super long. I don't feel like doing Part 4, but most people have the same idea of changes for Part 4. Give Micaiah and Yune seperate screen times, etc.
  10. Reyson, because massive move, multiple refreshes, a gorgeous design, and a cool character arc.
  11. I love the idea. I love gameplay story integration, but some of the examples in the earlier entries feel too skewed in one direction (i.e. FE4's balance in general). Thracia has a much better approach to it, and I can't wait for a complete English patch to play it.
  12. I don't particularly mind an avatar character, nor do I mind a story-important avatar character. If it is an avatar, I just hope that they have in-depth customization and are well-balanced gameplay-wise. If the avatar is important to the story, make it a good story lacking in (unwarranted) praise and actual choices. As long as IS uses enough effort to legitimize the avatar, it should be fine.
  13. I do not need to look up anything. I am very aware that you are being "pragmatic" - I would call it cynical - but that does not mean I am not allowed to voice a disagreement. And ultimately, it comes off as needlessly condescending to tell me to "Look it up" when I argue an opinion contrary to yours. You have one opinion; I have another. That happens to be the whole concept of a discussion, which you seem to wholly disregard in favor of cynicism veiled as pragmatism. Yes, you do make good points that some character-specific promotions in Thracia are not wholly suited to the character. That, you are right on. Yet, the whole discussion is revolving around the idea that character-specific promotions can be good if they are balanced around, which is the truth in this hypothetical discussion. And there is nothing wrong with people having hopes for a future entry in a series they like, as that is often what being a fan of a series entails. So, I'm good. I am aware of what pragmatic means, and I would still respond to you the same way even if I didn't. I ave no desire to argue this point further, so so long and have a good day.
  14. Ultimately, I would love to see them back. I loved the sheer amount of possibilities that they provided for character identity, and I personally prefer them to the reclassing method. It also allows for niches to be more defined. Of course, they would have to be balanced accordingly, but all additions made to gameplay would have to. It wouldn't be particularly hard to do so if the time was put into it. It also gives reasons to use certain characters if they come in later or with odd stat lines. Also, I have a problem with disliking a mechanic because you believe that IS cannot do it right. Not only does one's opinion of IS's competency not matter to the discussion at all, it also contributes nothing to the discussion. So what if you don't have a high opinion of IS? It doesn't particularly matter to a discussion of a hypothetical idea.
  15. I personally prefer axes, as Pegasus riders already hate up the lance flyer role. I personally would keep wyverns axes, pegasi lances, and add a sword flyer (griffons?) to complete the trio.
