  1. Happy Birthday, sorry for being a week late!!!

  2. Happy Birthday!!! (again)

  3. I was one of those silly people who saw Marth and Roy in SSBM, thought that Hector and Eliwood were Marth and Roy and that Marth had an axe for some reason, and then learned how silly I was.
  4. FESS And I float in and out as my interest in the series fluctuates.
  5. Webster also defines a firearm as "a weapon from which a shot is discharged by gunpowder." So yeah, that's that. As wonderful as that would be, that's going to be a very difficult thing to accomplish. I'm not saying don't try, just saying that it would be nice if a lot more people in the world thought education was important.
  6. Of course, I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying they're still weapons no matter how tame your use for them are. If you just let your handgun sit in your dresser, it's still a weapon just sitting in the dresser. But I understand your point, as well. But if something less powerful can do the job just as well, then there's no point in keeping the overpowered stuff out there for the bad apples to abuse them. I agree with everything else, though. I disagree. Places like the UK have extremely tight laws and almost no gun crime, as Raven has pointed out many times already.
  7. Yeah but, aren't assault rifles a bit overkill for defensive purposes? It's not about getting rid of murderers, you can't really do that, it's about preventing the amount of casualties and fatalities they'll be creating. Even if banning is out of the question, reform for how readily available guns are for purchase could definitely be made.
  8. Where did you draw that from? I was pretty sure we were just talking about who generally makes a move on somebody, not every single gender role in existence. In regards to that, same-sex relationships aren't the only reason why I think the "norm" isn't really a norm. There are quite a few women who prefer making the first move, and there are a lot of guys who are too shy to make the first move themselves. The whole idea of the man having to take initiative is more of a cultural stamp nowadays than an actual norm, in my opinion. There are too many exceptions as far as I can tell.
  9. The only shiny I found was by chaining Pichu in Platinum. I then proceeded to trade it for a Japanese Ditto to try Masuda methoding more shinies. I haven't gotten any. ._.
  10. Sorry, but firearms' main intended purpose is for war. Nowhere did I say their purpose was for crime. In civilian hands, the weapon can be used for defense, can be used for sport, and even can be used for crime. But in the end, aren't they just weapons used as defense/sport/crime? Like I said, they don't HAVE to be used primarily AS weapons, but they're still weapons in the end. Just the same as a wrench can be used AS a weapon, but it's still a tool at its root. See what I'm getting at?
  11. If a man makes a move on a man, the man on the receiving end doesn't follow the "norm" since he's being asked. If a woman makes a move on a woman, then she doesn't follow the "norm" because she's doing the asking. In same sex couples, 50% of them follow the "norm." At that point, it's not really a norm anymore. It's a 50/50 split in that scenario 100% of the time.
  12. I would point out that since there are many same sex couples out there nowadays, the entire concept of "the man takes initiative" falls flat. But I'm afraid that getting into that area will derail the current line of discussion. (or maybe it won't, I don't know. maybe I'm thinking too much) Regardless I felt it was worth mentioning. Since you shared your personal experiences, I'll share mine. I've been asked out on more dates by women than the other way around. Maybe that's because I just happen to be in a very open or liberal part of the country, or maybe it's a sign that the concept of the gender role is evolving into something different. In my opinion, the "norm" is now "the person who has the courage to ask someone out is the one who makes the move." Or maybe I wasn't taking any hints and they just got tired of waiting for me to make a move. I don't know. :P
  13. Based on my argument and the definition of a weapon, fireworks as they are, are not weapons, as their purpose isn't that of a weapon's. However... You kind of said it here, a more accurate statement would be "something can be used as a weapon" as opposed to "a weapon is only a weapon if you make it one." This applies to both your baseball bat as well as fireworks mentioned above, and anything else for that matter. On the same note, a weapon can be used as a non-weapon, such as using firearms for sport. However, because of firearms' main intended use, they are to be considered weapons, in my opinion.
