  1. You should also check who you S-rank, so you don't get the same class from both the spouse and the buddy. I mean, if you marry Hinoka to Hinata, don't make Hinata buddy Subaki, since he'd add no new class to the mix. However, there are some characters that have only one buddy class available, which I list below (with the marriage options that would give the same class): Azura: Shrine Maiden with Sakura (useless if married to Azama) Jakob: Archer with Takumi (useless if married to Setsuna/Mozu) Felicia: Samurai with Hana (useless if married to Hinata, only A+ support) Kaze: Cavalier with Silas Sakura: Samurai with Hana (useless if married to Hinata) Saizo: Sky Knight with Subaki (useless if married to Hinoka) Mozu: Spear Fighter with Oboro (only A+ support) Other characters can get classes from any of their potential A+ supports. These are Hinoka, Hayato, Oboro, Takumi, Azama, Orochi, Ryoma and Silas, though sometimes two characters will offer the same choice.
  2. I think that character's growths should be more important that class growths, since they represent the characters nature. Class growths involve training, but if one character is more biased to one line of development (physical or magical, glass cannon, tank or rounded), he should be tried in the classes that follow that premise to empower his/her strengths, or other classes that would somewhat balance his/her weaknesses. This reflects real life, since I've known many people that studied and tried really hard and achieved pretty bad results in certain subjects (like math or PE), while other people would get amazing grades without breaking a sweat. And I keep seeing things like that at work, where certain coworkers are being used like wildcards just because they have innate abilities that sometimes become more useful than the developed skills from those of the specialized departments. If class growths are more important than personal, you'll end with a bunch of generic soldiers gameplaywise. I think those characters are just not meant to be magical. Characters with usable magical growth usually have a tome or staff user class in their set (there are some exceptions like Saizo's great magic growth and Effie's and Charlotte's null magic growth, but I guess these two just want easy access to tomebreaker). The ones that don't have magic growth aren't really meant to be used as mages of any kind (maybe just in mixed classes since they'd have strength to use the physical weapon of the class).
  3. I'd change a bunch of things in the game: +Characters: -Less supports but more unique. Not every character from the regular cast (non-Corrinsexuals) should be able to marry/support any other character of the cast or to the same level of support. Some of them would reach deeper bonds with the rest, Corrin being the exception for being the main character. -Since they wanted to make them more unique adding the personal skills, they could have added a weapon of choice for each character. The character would be able to use this kind of weapon regardless of class. It would allow use of up to D rank of weapons in a non-familiar class, and increase the rank by one in the other classes (their natural rank would be reduced by one to balance it). For example, Ryoma would have sword as his weapon of choice, so it would raise swordmaster's sword rank from A to S, while as a sniper he'd have A bow and D sword rank. This means that shifters outside Corrin would get to use their stones in other classes (with less proficiency since their rank would be limited). -Make a unique level like in FE4, where characters kept their level at promotion. This would make levels more consistent. -Forges would be implemented to give characters unique personal weapons. Effects from forges could include increased stats, effectiveness against weapons/classes, stat increases or reduction of weapon penalties. +Base resources: -I think characters in charge of the facilities should be hand picked from those not present in the last battle (you'd set the castle at the same time you'd be setting the battle). This would make place for... -Civilian classes. There are quite a few of them already (villager, butler/maid, apothecary, merchant, blacksmith...), that could be put use in the castle providing benefits that the fighting classes wouldn't, but they'd have lower bases and caps. Their class skills would be related to castle jobs, finding resources between battles, making better upgrades for weapons, increasing meals efficiency (in addition to their personal skill). -Training grounds: facilities designed to train underleveled units by experienced ones (finally the Jeigan and Est archetypes can become useful). There could be experience or weapon rank training here, provided the trainee's rank/experience is lower than the coach one. +Story: Well, there's quite a ton of things that could be changed in the story to fix it (Corrin's personality for starters, give him some guts in Conquests, please).
  4. You forgot the meal effect (with some luck for the effect, use Jakob, Peri, Percy or Anna for the exquisite flair) for +2. If you're lucky enough, from time to time you may get the status up for that stat as well (not as reliable as the Mess Hall effect).
  5. I don't like the everyone x everyone (the Waifu Wars) that's done for the non-Corrinsexuals. There are some supports that could be ditched away. Half of the supports are redundant, being based on a hobby a character has showing different reactions from the other character, which is exactly the same they show to a third character's hobby. As for Gunter's S-support with Corrin (or some other characters, if they felt like it), I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. It shouldn't exist, like S-bonding with the children characters, that would be Kana's option. I mean, have Corrin support all characters from either generation, but have him be able to marry only the first, and let Kana support all second generation characters, marrying whoever she wanted (giving him/her a more adult look in order to comply with the western rules). And some of the supports that could have been included would have been great, like Flora x Jakob/Gunter/Rinkah (the first two are obvious additions and the third is the Fire and Ice tribes heirs, though I like her possible pairing to Saizo as well), Scarlet x Ryoma/Camilla (in Revelations at least)/Shura (both are comitted to save some small country, having led rebellions). Maybe the two of them would get along too, since both fight Nohr, Scarlet leading the rebellion and Flora acting as a spy.
  6. The main issue with this class is that it gives skills that fulfill a variety of roles. It has Dual Striker to support offensively, Aether for a main attacker and Awakening as a third offensive skill that could be used either way. However, it also gives Charm, an area-support skill. Dual Striker merges perfectly with Selena's personal skill, and it would work for anyone that values attack stance over defense stance. Charm could be stacked to other skills like Inspiration, Demoiselle, Gentilhomme, and some personal skills for massive bonus for nearby allies (Sakura could get +4/-4 for women and +4/-6 for men and Hinoka +6/-2 for women and +6/-4 for men). Aether is just another proc skill that works both offensively (by healing) and defensively (by negating defense). Anyone could benefit of it (anyone not using Vantage for the healing part). Awakening is a game breaker for eny character with high HP and decent/high defenses, so any character may benefit of it, but Kagero, Nyx, Setsuna and Scarlet may be more biased towards using it since their personal skills are based on being dealt damage (though Setsuna's skill involves being healed). It's however useless in the arena, since you'll start every round over half MHP due to resting between fights.
  7. I guess you mean the steel ones. Silver double just like iron ones. However, regardless of weapon cost, in this game any weapon has pros and cons to be used, and you should get the best one for every character. Fast characters (who are usually weaker, except Hana and Effie) could benefit more from steel, while slow ones (who are ususally stronger) should rely on iron. Having a consistent Corrin in all three routes would be good as well. We have Rage Corrin in BR, Mr. OK-Guy Corrin in CQ and yet another personality in RV. He is supposed to be the same person all along, so I'd expect him to be more rebellious in CQ (he feels the same dragon blood that he has is BR, and he wields the Yato, which would make Garon to freak out a bit, not feeling invincible anymore) and less merciless in BR (he was brought up in Nohr after all, he knows too well of the sufferings there).
  8. The front character always does damage unless the rear one is too powerful. Evennn though the game balances fights towards the AI, the player has to stand a chance, and if the main character can deal one point of damage (I've never faced an enemy that nullified my damage), he gets a 25-33% (with 35 SKL) chance of winning the round, regardless of the enemy damage and accuracy. If you take out Quixotic, but keep HU for RH/Luna, your character gets as much as 62% of RH activation (45% for Luna) with the same SKL stat, which is higher a higher rate, but the enemy might survive the blow. Trigering a critical, if the enemy has no LCK (which won't happen), might be as much as 15% (class) + 20% (Death Blow) + 17% (SKL), making a total of 42%. In this setup, you'd have a 26% chance of getting a critical RH and around a 17% of getting a critical Luna. Even when getting the skill to trigger is higher than the Lethality skill combo, getting it with a critical is still lower. Since you always use your highest ranked weapon, using a weapon locked class actually bears some benefits (Avoid and/or Critical).
  9. Any kid can get Nohrian trust (there are many castles offering it). If you want to take advantage of some other kid for this setup, it's up to you. These are some ideas on the rest of the skills: Depending on the front character speed, you may decide for or against Wary Fighter. You may also want to valorate Vantage for the front character (great with Astra when injured). Hoshidan Unity is a must for a proc oriented unit, and any unit with Nohrian Trust can get this one as well. Quixotic is more risky, since enemy accuracy rises. Their increased skill proc is irrelevant if they have no proc-skills, but you can focus on taking out/weakening the ones that have these skills first on player phase, or counter them with Pavise/Aegis. If the frontman has high HP (the durable fellow type), you may want to give him Counter/Countermagic and some HP restoring skill (Sol via Nohrian Trust/Renewal). All in all, the skill setup depends on the type of paired unit you want, defensive or offensive. If you want to hold of tons of enemies, Pavise-Aegis is a combination nice to have in this set, high-proc Vantage-Astra will regenerate your shield gauge consistently, while dealing heavy damage if you're damaged, Sol will provide a defensive boost in both phases. The backup character for this combination should have those four proc skills and the frontman, either regeneration, defensive boosts or proc augmenters. If you want an offensive approach, Lethality-Astra-Luna-Rend Heaven/Dragon Fang will have you activating skills in almost every attack, increasing your damage output or downright killing the enemy. The frontman should have proc augmenters and damage increasers.
  10. I have a save with Corrin with Hoshidan Unity, Quixotic and Lethality and he takes out enemies with ease. I plan on using a kid character for that (probably Caeldori as front fighter), with Siegbert (Rev)/Corrin (BR/Rev) backing her up. For my Nohr route, I think I'll go Soleil-Selena/Charlotte as daughter and mother (Selena would auto critical whenever Soleil does, and Charlotte would be a triangle breaker with a strong punch against pegasi, who'd be probably pitted against Soleil. Anyway, I think that the combo HU-Q-L, probably with Pavise and Aegis (or Warding/Armored Blow, since enemy's hit would be buffed) as well, is a way to take down most enemies, since they don't have proc skills (that I have met). I don't know if Arthur's personal skill is applicable, since that would be interesting to use in the Arena as well.
  11. I was wondering if you actually switch places with the killed unit, not if killing was possible. If you've proved it working, I might give that skill a try.
  12. Have you tried killing an enemy with Lunge? I don't think you'd swap places with a unit you just killed. I haven't done it myself, but I don't think it'd work unless that unit was paired up, making you swap your place with the supporting unit. I may be wrong though, since, like I said, I haven't even tried "A Lunge for a Kill".
  13. Kids can have any non-DLC skills as legit (except those related to the Wolfskin and Kitsune), since any of them may inherit them and make them accesible at MyCastle.
  14. That's the reason Xander keeps losing it around the camp.
  15. Instead of this waifu wars, have the protagonist a preset partner regardless of gender like in FE4, obviously Corrin-Azura (or gender-bended counterparts), with their children getting their extra options from their A+ Supports instead, and, for a change, get the twin Kanas instead of just the opposite sex one as the main character's kids. Every other S-support for them should vanish. As for other characters, I hate most of Azama's supports. The one with Mozu is terrible.
  16. That's Xander's Lance, and the only use I think of, is being able to spam Rend Heaven afterwards, or getting additional damage with Caeldori. The only use I find for the Speed Thunder is to buff enemy speed not to be doubled and avoid an accidental kill that could leave you vulnerable for another unit to kill. Maybe it could be used by a unit with Wary fighter and the right breaker skill or Certain Blow, so that attack speed isn't an issue, and the extra dodge would be covered by the other skill.
  17. I forged an parasol/umbrella (I don't remember which one) for Odin which I called "GreatCoverSun", just for the crit bonus. I don't have any other weapons renamed (except the classical Missiletainn, of course). I'll rename Hinata's kanata "Hisamaru" to make sense wth the story if I ever find a second one to forge. The thing is that I used to rename them back in Awakening. I had Donnel equipped with the Harvester (Leif's blade) and the Boomeraxe (Wing Cutter).
  18. Warding Blow and Armored Blow do exist to soothe the damage glass cannons might suffer. Interestingly enough, each of the twin ninjas get access to the Blow that strengthes their weakness via Friendship Seal (Saizo with Tsubaki and Kaze with Silas or Xander). Even more interesting is that the additional class Kaze gets is the only one he can get via A+ support, and Saizo is limited to that support class in the BR campaign (both Ryoma and Kaze gives him samurai, which he already has). That might be a good setup, but Quixotic, Hoshidan Unity and Lethality (it doesn't matter enemy's defense or own power, if it triggers and hits, battle's won) for the frontman wouldn't let it shine too much (I have those three in an Avatar, and he just owns the Arena). He'd be better with Pavise and Aegis for increased protection.
  19. Kumagera's class cannot be passed, since he cannot support. A sweeping set should have either many damage increasers (there are a lot of situational skills, like Elbow Room, Quick Draw, Trample, Aggresor if available), or high chance of powerful skills to trigger, which comes often with Quixotic and Hoshidan Unity if possible, possibly adding Death Blow to either set to boost the crit ratio. It's a good addition for an Arena supporter, since it'll increase the damage output for that unit without incurring in damage received penalties. Once you get an Arena Shield, you can easily set the couple for the facility.
  20. That way you lost ten levels for Sakura to grow, which could result in at least 2-3 points for each stat on average that you wouldn't get (probably up to 5-6 on magic, luck and speed).
  21. Go witch when you get Sakura at level 10, so she'll start using tomes/scrolls asap and build up ranks when she has the stats of a promoted unit at an umpromoted level. Then use a parallel seal to become a priestess and get her other two skills and a second parallel seal to get back into the witch class (yes, you can do that). The amount of levels to spend on each class should depend on the development of the stats (go witch for skyrocket magic and priestess to boost your resistance and luck and slightly your HP). However, some of the skills you've chosen don't seem to fit a Hoshidan Witch (unless you're on the invisible route), since Shadowgift only allows you to use Nosferatu, which was severely hampered in Fates (nullifing double-strikes for a fast character in a fast class), and you won't get manys copies of it to forge in other people's castles. Countermagic isn't that good for a glass cannon. Low HP might result in an accidental death for your character if you rely on a counter skill. If you go witch, getting Tomefaire is a great option, since her only available weapon as a Witch is exactly that. So, the final skill lineup I'd choose would be: 1- Miracle: precious for a glass cannon with high luck. 2- Renewal: it will heal little HP, but keeping her HP above 1 every turn is important for Miracle to work. 3- Warp: one of the best skill to move around finishing enemies or going to safety. 4- Toxic Brew: just to pin characters locked to one or two-range weapons if they don't get killed before, that's it. I don't think it's that useful for a character like this one, who should get her enemies killed on sight. 5- Tomefaire: higher damage is always welcome. Either Amaterasu for support or Air Superiority to get greater avoid against flying enemies that may reach around choke points could be interesting to add if you're willing to go into yet another class for 3-4 levels to get them. All and all, I think Sakura would work best as a support unit, given her personal skill, access to staves, a flying class and Amaterasu, and via Mycastle for BR and A+ Elise for Revelations, she can access Strategist and Demoiselle. If you use the Exalt Emblem on her, she'll get the Charm skill to stack on all other benefits, and some other good skills to fill up the last slot. Despite this, you may want to use Hinoka as the Support-bot, since she can become a trobadour by A+ Azura in either route, thus gaining all these skills. Rend Heaven/Lancefaire, could round up Hinoka's skillset.
  22. Well, it's a thing I missed from certain supports, like Tsubaki-Shigure, where nobody mentions perfection, unlike any other support Subaki has, and, given the backstory of the support, it could be easily added, making the character more consistent.
  23. I think children should have a more limited arrange of possible parents (except the avatar's kids), so there'd be no way crazy matches like Azama-Sakura could happen (after seeing their support, I think Sakura should get negative support effects from him!). That'd make more sense from a psychological perspective, if men can support up to three other men, being able to support three times as many women seems awkward (same with women). Evening out the supports for either sex would actually increase the choices of borrowed classes (in birthright Sakura can only get Hana's class and Saizo Subaki's, just because they already have the other ones). Also, it there are less possible parents for a given child, quality of support conversations would rise (unlike the cloned conversations Lucina, Morgan, Shigure and Kana have with their siblings and just any child with their variable parent). It would allow for more unique looks for the children (dark skinned, different eye color...) I also think that granting a kid to characters regardless of their sex (maybe not all of them), could make some interesting siblings conversations as well. It'd be nice if the kid could have conversations with their main parent A+ support, like a godparent-godchild conversation, and the kids inheriting their parents classes and one or two of their godparent's skills. Too many wishes I guess.
  24. I think Azama is the worse jerk ever. He just looks for people to insult and take down. Both Mozu and Hayato were forewarned about him and tried to keep him away. Setsuna is just oblivious to his insults, to the point of taking of them as compliments (which unnerves Azama). His support with Sakura is a big asshole showdown. He's the type of guy that would go to an unsuspecting peasant to put a stick into his eye to see his reaction. It might be so because he has a nearly useless personal skill (once promoted or reclassed it's useless since he'd have a weapon equipped, unless he's used as a healer-rallybot). Jakob just goes his way and doesn't want to be bothered. He holds great respect for Corrin, since he was compassionate at the beginning when he was a mess of a butler and everybody else would treat him badly. Because of this he developed a sense of loyalty that would go to extreme measures to keep people away from him so he can repay Corrin his benevolence. I think he just prefers stay in smaller circles instead of being talkative to every single person in a room. I'd love to see support conversations between these two.
  25. I think all of them should have appeared, maybe not as retainers (or more likely as a third retainer), but at certain forced interludes (by fulfilling certain criteria, you'd access these interludes before moving to the next one, like in the GBA ones). The children would have split after the events in the Xenologue, some of them reaching Nohr, other ones would reach Hoshido, and the rest would be left stranded in Valla. They would support just their liege, fellow retainers and the other Awakids, but only S-rank among them. I think that Owain (Samurai/Dark Mage), Cynthia (Sky Knight/Knight), Laurent (Diviner/Dark Mage) and Noire (Archer/Dark Mage) would have arriven to Hoshido. These four would have been teleported right before Corrin's whereabouts were revealed. Since Ananko's child's name wasn't revealed to them by then, they'd become a third retainer to each of the siblings. The liege-retainer pairs would be Owain-Sakura, Cynthia-Takumi, Laurent-Hinoka and Noire-Ryoma. On the other side, Nohr would welcome Kjelle (Knight/Spear Fighter), Inigo (Mercenary/Oni), Severa (Mercenary/Sky Knight) and Brady (Trobadour/Priest). They would have been sent to Nohr like the ones in the actual story. The pairs would be Severa-Elise, Inigo-Xander, Kjelle-Leo and Brady-Camilla. The rest, Gerome (Wyvern Knight/Priest), Nah (Diviner/Manakete) and Yarne (Fighter/Taguel), and Lucina (Cavalier/Great Lord) if you happen to recruit all of them. They'd support non-retainer characters on both sides and Azura. It would be specially funny the supports between Nah and Nyx (My mother is older than you but looks and acts as a kid) and Yarne with Keaton and Kaden (I'm a fighter, not your dinner).
