  1. I prefer worm, worm is funnier. I'm half convinced they just went out on the street to ask some poor saps to read out lines without any context. To be fair I didn't find it to be any more forgettable than most Zelda Dungeon music...if that's even a proper way of saying it. There are only a small handful of dungeon themes that really stand out to me. But in general I think BoTW music is incredible, I don't know what people are smoking. I fumbled around with stuff for an hour until realizing that literally all I needed to do was update my laptop and it would be fine. I got NSO earlier this year, and it's this weird feeling where on one hand I thought 60 dollars for all these games for an entire year is actually not too bad, but on the other hand, I haven't opened any NSO stuff since like two months ago.
  2. A puppet Empress, suppose that's what you get for inheriting the throne as a child. ...You think she would've done something about that considering the previous game. Oh yay, does that mean we'll get into part 4 soon? You're telling me, the guy who double-double crossed us last game has just double-crossed us?! I hope someday someone loves me as much as Radiant Dawn loves fog of war maps The voice actors for these cutscenes sound so bored, it's great Oooh a sacking mission, that's new Appreciate the game showing the struggle of the horses as well, goddess bless worm I also appreciate the less than a second long cutscene that occurred just before this to show that Tibarn attacked.
  3. What kind of error warning is that? It's asking me the solution to a potential problem. Could you imagine if a cop asked "Do you have a bullet proof vest?" if you tried to storm the capitol? In any case I don't know what to do now, I was going to play Radiant Dawn but sir Dolphin over here doesn't even know what his error is about yet apparently. Kind of interesting to think about considering the few N64 games that have been made to run natively on PC hardware.
  4. What is this, Fire Emblem Engage? Ask what my favorite Fire emblem characters are and I will give you an army of redheads. Case in point Can I just have one consistent army Oh so that's why the servers are so slow Yeah those senators definitely look like they would vote against the Civil Rights act of 1964 So how does this dark god decide that "the land is covered in war"? Is it like "X amount of country have to be at war with each other" or "X percentage of land mass has some kind of battle going on in it" Gotta admit, that guy's facial hair game is on point So statistically speaking, what are the chances of Mist missing this attack and getting doubled in retaliation? Never punished This feels oddly familiar How the hell does a country that is ruled by strength not have a single moment in it's history where it used that strength to invade another country Jill So fully expecting the kitten in question to be Lethe I was prepared to make a joke about how "Hey dude, she's got a girlfriend" But now I see it's a completely new character ...But upon looking at her design I feel inclined to make the joke anyways because hers is up there for one of the queerest character designs in Fire Emblem. Wait why is this guy working with us agaIn Beware the three hooded gingers Jesus lady, gingers aren't THAT soulless I...completely forgot what Naesala was doing in the final moments of PoR, someone please remind me Cowards Part of me thought Heather could've perpetuated the predatory lesbian stereotype, but she's certainly more caring than the majority of male flirts across the franchise Now if you want to talk about predatory women in Fire Emblem... But luckily his boyfriend has come to his aid Wait, why is there 16 slots? I only have 15 characters that makes no- Oh... Oh right Talking a lot of shit for someone within Wyrmslayer distance The relationship between the Fire Emblem player and the poor combat unit they insist is worth the effort To the boss's credit he did manage to hit Mia despite it being a mere 8% chance so you gotta give him that See what the apostle should do is appoint herself commander and chief of the army and go lead out on the front lines while the empire crumbles back home Yes, that tends to be how governments work And so the soldiery give their power to the uncaring nobles once again, a tale as old as time.
  5. I don't think that direct could've spitted on F-Zero's corpse in a funnier way
  6. Whenever I come here, either before or after work, the website loads are so damn slow and I'm so incredibly exhausted that whatever I respond to is pretty much at the whim of whatever I see first and takes the least effort. God I'm tired. I might actually be awake to see this live.
  7. So ya'll remember when I talked about playing Conquest while I was away? Well now I beat, just now in fact. My first ever Fire Emblem game back in 2017 and only now have I finally managed to beat it. It's emotional really. Oh no I agree, it absolutely is a pure fanservicey ex-machina but my lizard brain likes it nonetheless. I personally really liked it, even though it was a more of a typical push forward map than a tight defense map, I kind of like how slow and careful that push is, I still felt like I was defending for a lot of it. No I did. Would've been a much tougher chapter if I didn't What a beautiful way of looking at it. Prime Minister Ludveck enacts a coup over the Duma in hopes to bring in land reforms across the country to turn it into a capitalistic western state. Tsar Elincia hates this idea because she doesn't know what the word "reform" means. Nintendo leakers are obvious as hell whenever they bring out those four titles
  8. I like that Haar is just here with us now The two genders So apparently someone at IS thought it was really necessary for Marcie's entrance here to be a secret reveal You'd think for a defense map they'd have a command to...you know...defend I also see that this game makes staves a weapon that you can equip and hold which will definitely not be annoying down the line Shout out to 3D map Fire Emblem games in which my terrible eyesight is subject to soldiers that look damn near identical if I'm not paying attention to each one, thus failing to notice archers Wow! you were certainly eager for this Not with that short noose she will Hey look it's Gordan Admittedly, I did feel really gitty during this whole cutscene "I got a cool haircut, so it's win win" Also there was a line that Elincia said that I forgot to screenshot about "Being the one true queen and the people will just have to accept that" and man, as someone who spent the last few days studying the Russian Revolution... Also speaking of Tsardom. Does any FE game actually mention the like...legal ramifications for their monarchy? The divine right of kings almost never comes up so I wonder how they justify their family rule. "He also opened a really shitty chain restaurant." It's the fact that you understand how little you know that makes you intelligent. When someone gains vast amounts of knowledge they open the flood gates and quickly realize just how much there is to know, and how much farther there is to go, while many of the most uneducated remain in their bubble, believing that they already know everything. In fact it's very common for folks who know a lot about something to overestimate how much the average person knows about that thing, it's easy to doubt your own knowledge because you are painfully aware of how much you don't know, when in reality, to many people you're already speaking Greek. So don't sell yourself short because while it's true that there is much knowledge that is lost to us for now, and may be so for the rest of our lives, that just means that no matter how long you live, there will always be something new to study, a new perspective to analyze. There is no end to the pursuit of knowledge and that is the true beauty of it. Like most artistic and humanistic endeavors, it's not about being perfect or accumulating the most points, it's about the shared collective experience between billions of people and what we can achieve and learn together. Ew, should've made it so every country is a star
  9. Shout out to this one guy who managed to single handedly annex (almost) the entirety of Denmark without the Danes or me knowing. I am late on seeing this as I don't visit the forums as much as I would like these days, but just wanted to let you know that I really admire and even envy you sometimes. The fact that you can share so much knowledge on various things is a level of patience, focus, and genuine passion that I wish I had. So keep doing what you enjoy doing as it's all incredible. You can vent on here anytime as we're always willing to help, and you deserve to be happy.
  10. Fiona was the character I obsessed over for being bad in part one and yet I completely forgot she existed. She's olive skinned for sure but looking at her she almost feels more Asian than African to me. But in a fantasy anime game it's difficult to really tell, so whatever. That's 2 black characters, so this game is now white genocide. The difference between Devdan and Heather is that I could show lesbian friends of mine Heather and they'd be like "Haha, fucking love that dyke" Danved is a lot more negative and mocking as a stereotype in that sense. Well that certainly explains it. It's a shame too, because there are lots of African immigrants who live in Japan. The problem with those two is just that it's hard to tell if they are actually ethnically African in design or just tanned. Like Devdan is the first black character in where his facial structure and hair was made to fit that ethnicity, something that's also done with later black characters like Basilio and Dedue.
  11. The Astrid blitz herself! One of my strongest units in the last game! Just to leave room for new units I probably wont use her, but much respect. Gay rights Alright, so like, I don't the writers were being particularly malicious or racist when making this character, I could totally see them just trying to make another simplistic thinking himbo character who happens to also be the first black character in Fire Emblem... ...But the thing about tokenism is that it's not about how a minority character is represented as much as it is about if they are the only minority character represented, and having the only black character here be a simple minded, half English speaking guy who was in slavery, (Though they didn't call it slavery even despite them being fine with the term for other characters) is a bit uncomfortable. Also I think this specific portrayal is a common stereotype of African men in Japan? I may be misremembering that. Oh well if it's a different character than I guess it's okay Who does she think she is, a Fates protagonist? Shout out to Lance Pal and Blade Pal, truly the best of totally not gay guy pals Makalov was flirting with Geoffrey earlier so this comparison is perfect Yes thankfully.
  12. I find it funny that one of the requirements for this mission is to seize land from the estates 10 times ...Which is a thing I haven't needed to do since the Muscovite days. Ah, dyslexia wins again. That is actually hilarious I completely encourage it, and if you do it, send pictures. That one's great, purple is unfortunately a rare color in flags. The Aztecs were right, if I saw a hawk fighting a snake in the middle of a lake, I'd think the gods would want me to build a city there too. That's what you get for an island that was isolated for thousands of years, even forbidding people from leaving or entering for a chunk of that time. Wasn't as easy for invaders to come and mess things up, not that they didn't have internal conflicts between various tribes and kingdoms of course. Yeah it doesn't have it anymore which is why I specified "Was" used by the "Imperial" Japanese navy. I have no idea what's happening, but I think you should date the dilf.
  13. Casual mode happened so people could save scum and not restart the entire map Hey that reminds me! I have paperwork that I have to do today for starting my job tomorrow. God save if I don't remember to do it. National Anthems are interesting because as a country you basically guarantee that song to be the least popular patriotic song in the nation It doesn't matter how good it is because once you've heard it so many times it starts to wane over time until it's more like a cultural footnote in the public conscious than an actual song people would listen to unironically. I was thinking about this the other day and how various marches in US history usually adopt the melody of Battle Hymn of the Republic to whatever protest they were marching about but never the national anthem itself. Did you know that Northern Island doesn't even have an official flag? They have a unofficial ulster banner that nationalists like to use but it doesn't have an official status, making it the only country in the UK to not have one. Also apparently the Japanese flag is the oldest still used national flag that we know of, having origins as far back the year 701. It's known as the Hinomaru and is supposed to represent the imperial family's connection to the sun goddess and the rising sun Which as a side note, it's kind of interesting that Japan and Italy basically kept their flags after the war while Germany did a hard turn away from it's nazi shit. (This one was for the imperial Japanese navy specifically) It's a lot more striking than the modern one but it's still the same idea with the rising sun, and it's connection to the imperial family which solidifies the modern country as a constitutional monarchy.
  14. Me: Hmm, I think I'm going to play Radiant Dawn today My brain: You're going to spend 5 hours reading wikipedia articles about country flags and you're going to like it. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Someone should made a full fledged hack with these guys as the main characters. Majora's Mask is truly the most "I had one year to create a sequel to an incredibly successful game" game. Like it's definitely not a coincidence that the game's plot revolves around a stressful timer.
  15. Leave it to Russia to show that even a democracy can become autocratic. Though honestly I'm torn because I've been trying to play by at least partly concerning my actual morals and going for a republic only to immediately go back to dictatorship makes my tummy hurt ...Buuuut I'm not sure what the hell else I'm going to do for the next 200 years aside from producing more vodka. And today at work as I was listening to a podcast about the Russian Revolution, how very interesting. Oh now you tell me.
  16. Civil War! Civil War! So is it just me or does Fire Emblem always just resort to using their accent as their sole personality whenever they have a rural farmer character? Revolution sort of implies a structural change... Do we get to overthrow the palace and cut all their heads off? Yeah! And we can finally give power to the people, right? ...Right? Good save on making it so it was the rural peasant characters doing this because it would've been way more uncomfortable if it was the nobles. Well, you know what they say... Rebellions... R-Rebellions are like... Holy shit it's Jill's racist cat girlfriend. Wow, lumping the Laguz together as though they're a monolith? Classic Beorc move. This guy is literally just a color swap of Jarod. Oh sorry, was the word crossbow trademarked by Link's Crossbow training? Fun fact, Nephenee was the 5th champion of the previous game If I remember correctly. Unfortunately my grief for this loss and her legacy does not overwhelm me not being bothered to restart this chapter, lets continue. Honestly I'm surprised FE hasn't really done the "FE lord is so overwhelmed by their job that they just break down." as much, but it's great to see it here.
  17. I'm like Poland but Russia Eh, that's a fun alternate history thing to think of but I'd rather just try and repel Europe and see how the alternate history plays out in an Americas with no or at least not as much European Influence.
  18. Man I can't wait to start this new Fire Emblem game. Queen Elincia? Oh wow, I can't wait to meet her. You folks need to start getting some humanistic ideas. Ephraim? Somehow this is very fitting after playing EU4 for a bit. I sound like a broken record at this point but It really is such a shame that FE hasn't really done a political intriguing story in a long time and focus on just the personal stories of the characters. I feel like both Tellius games have shown so far that they are definitely capable of combining the two, and in fact can benefit each other greatly. Oooh, sky map. That's new. I already knew these were going to be a thing in RD but I wasn't sure how they were going to be done. Hardy har har. Hehe, I like perfect numbers. Uh, I defeated all the red guys but I still have to wait a few more turns. D-Do we just search if they're hiding in the clouds or...
  19. Colonization will always be funky in these games just because of how open the opportunity is. As a Native I would much rather be independent but I guess Danish is a cool language.
  20. I can't fucking wait till Victoria 3 Guds hjælp, folkets kærlighed, Amerikas styrke
  21. The year is 1608. The Holy Roman Empire has been thrown into a war against Austria, known as the War of the Protestant League. In this corner of the world, there are three distinct major powers. Delhi, The Ottomans, and last but not least... Poland. ...Don't be fooled by the size, the commonwealth has been kicking my ass because I've spent the last 10 years more focused on Vodka production than army maintenance.
  22. Hey folks. I've returned from my two week long slumber. Conquest was a nice game to return to while I was gone from my computer. I didn't beat it since I was mostly busy with things like human interaction while I was away, but I'll probably continue playing it on the sidelines while I keep playing Radiant Dawn. In other news, I've made a bit of progress with my doctor concerning ADHD medication and also getting a therapist, so I've been in a pretty good mood lately.
  23. With my computer away from me for the next two weeks, I might bring my 3DS and give another shot at Conquest while I'm waiting to return to Radiant Dawn, see how my FE skills have improved since the last time and actually beat it this time. Give me Corrin suggestions! And just general unit suggestions too would be great.
  24. Tell that to the serfs in Russia Wasn't an official treaty signed in 2016? I'm not sure about that. The economic instability caused by WW1 in Germany most definitely had an effect on the Nazi party's ability to get in power, and in general the post war shame inflicted upon Germany gave a rising sense of ethno-nationalism and return to "The good old Prussian glory days." Regardless, I do think both wars are very similar. In the grand scale, the causes of WW1 was a rising sense of nationalism in Europe, technological advancement, especially from great powers, and an increasing number of military alliances, and WW2 is largely a continuation of those same causes, again in the grand scale. That nationalism turning into the rise of full blown Fascism. Thing about fascism is that it's not just a morally disgraceful philosophy, it's also just a shitty government system. Because when you subtract pragmatism from nationalism you just get a government where the state is more interested in spending money to kill minorities than actually improving the state itself. It's a purely emotional system built upon fear and mythology that doesn't serve any practical purpose, and that incompetence is half the reason the nazi's fell in WW2.
  25. "The term Evil Empire is redundant because all Empires are evil."
