  1. That's part of why I don't like the child banners much. Giving units steroids that make them stronger at the cost of their age is a bizarre idea. At least Young Soren and the Young Ike/Mist duo were referencing their games.
  2. This is a very good point, and credit to Tybrosion for using Ike and Marth as examples. I'd also like to throw in Female Corrin for being a dragon in most of her Alts.
  3. The last few seasonal banners with Alts have felt stale, either because of choice of characters, or not being very creative with who they use or reuse. Female units on Summer banners are the most guilty example, with them only using one of 3 different body types (Average like Tana and Linde, children like Young Tiki and Ylgr or others that purely rely on tits and/or ass like Camilla, Selena (Sacred Stones), and Dorothea), and not having much variety in what they wear. My question for you all is this: Do you feel the same kind of fatigue from Alts as I do, and if so, what would you like to see IS do to break it?
  4. Thanks for the reminder. Got several playthroughs of Path of Radiance under my belt since last year, and can say it overtook my previous favorite.
  5. I wasn't surprised when I learned that was the case. Rev completely forgets about Hinoka until Chapter 16, as she doesn't appear at all in the story between the decision of Chapter 6 and then. My reaction to seeing her was literally "Where the hell have you been?". Also adds to how Setsuna feels like a waste of space, both as a unit and as a character, and Azama having such a trollish character in nature. The timing of Hinoka joining in Birthright felt random too, as the other 3 Hoshidian royals had a story reason for their join times. ...But I'm getting off topic. To anyone who didn't bother reading this, know that Setsuna is still my pick for worst unit in Birthright.
  6. You forget that Fates wasn't originally going to have Hinoka. It was going to be 3 Hoshidian royals, and 4 Nohrian royals, so they likely thought of Subaki before Hinoka. ...But I digress.
  7. Character wise, a more accurate comparison to Sigurd is Chrom.
  8. Another Final Boss joins the roster in Fallen Rhea, too bad rest of the banner is a bore. You know they're starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel if they needed to add an OC into the mix.
  9. I don't think BEXP on any difficulty should be used as an argument in Rolf's favor, because it's something everyone has access too. Sure, it's cheapest to use on him or Mist because of their lower base level, but at the same time, it's more worthwhile to use it on units who are on par with the enemies or either slightly ahead or behind them (Boyd, Oscar, Soren, and Marcia).
  10. I already did one time, so I know the pain too. Soren was my main Sage and wanted him to use Rexbolt in Endgame. He reached B rank in Thunder in Chapter 26, then I used the two Arms Scrolls I saved to have him reach S rank. I can imagine the agony of trying to get Tormod up to S Thunder, as he also starts with E Thunder like Soren does.
  11. He's a good option for having the long range tomes on him if you don't want them on your main Mages/Sages thanks to his high weapon ranks, same applies to Callil. I sometimes deploy one of them for just that, and it's handy.
  12. You're talking to the same person who hates Conquest Niles. What a back and forth that was.
  13. I don't see Rolf as better then Elincia. She joins with A Staves and can fly so she can mend/recover someone, then get back to safety. Her being able to use Fortify at base is handy too, in a game where Sages can't reach A Staves. Statwise he's similar to Callil. +3 HP, +4 Strength, Same Magic, +3 Skill, -2 Speed, -1 Luck, +4 Defense, and +3 Resistance... but joins 4 chapters later then her and is Level 13 compared to her Level 6.
  14. I appreciate the input from you all. Go figure the main suggestion would be Sol when Astrid is the only potential Paladin on my main squad currently, and even then she'll need to do well to stick around. My Oscar is benched cause he was turning out poorly, I'm taking a break from using Kieran cause I used him last time, and Makalov... I still can't bring myself to use him cause of how much I hate his character. Titania is part of the backup squad, so she there if things become dire.
  15. Aside from getting Aether on Ike or Lethality on Volke (if he turns out well), I can never figure out which mastery skills are worth getting with Occult Scrolls, even now while I'm on my 6th playthrough of Path of Radiance. Disregarding individual units, which mastery skills are considered worth getting?
  16. You only have to deal with him as a Villager for one cemetery encounter if you decide to go south to the Seabound Shrine (assuming you defeated the Necrodragon there beforehand) immediately after getting him. Your journey back after making him an Archer can be used to get him both levels, and Combat Art experience.
  17. I can agree with his class being bad for Act 4, but not for Act 1 or Alm's side of Act 3. Lukas can hold his own in the class just fine, and him having access to the Ridersbane coupled with his high defense and attack as a Knight, he's great for taking on the waves of Cavaliers Act 3 throws at you, which is something Mathilda has a hard time doing because of her poor defense when she first joins you. Forsyth can potentially do the same, but unlike Lukas, his join time is awkward as he's competing with others for EXP to promote, so getting him there without grinding is difficult.
  18. Dang, I missed all the Killer Bow talk. Damn you Path of Radiance for taking up my whole day! You don't need the Merchants. Celica's path has enough to make one, but the method Shanty Pete mentioned is the more convenient way. I usually forge just two of them, one for each side. I personally favor giving it to Atlas over Leon because of his higher Attack, and because Leon will most likely have mastered Curved Shot, so I like keeping the Iron Bow on him for accuracy in case there's someone slippery.
  19. It really does depend if you think the backtrack for Atlas is worth it, and if you want to spend resources for whatever you turn him into (I'm a backer of Archer Atlas these days, giving him a Killer Bow was one the most enjoyable experiences I've had in all of Fire Emblem). I feel the payoff with him is better then Jesse and Est, and I stand by Nomah as who I consider the worst unit in SoV. As for Deen, I'd take him over Jesse any day. His bases are fine, and a good chance of hitting Level 10 for Dread Fighter by the end of Act 3 if you focus on him. ...I never did pick anyone from Alm's side. Uh... either Forsyth, Zeke, or Mycen. Was never impressed by any of these 3.
  20. What's a tragic experience you had in a Fire Emblem Game (other then Heroes or Warriors)? I'll start with one just to give an idea of what I'm looking for: In one of my recent playthroughs of Radiant Dawn, I had Nolan and Zihark supporting each other for that double Earth Affinity and the two were the stars of the run. Then 3-13 happened and the Greil Mercenaries started showing up while the two were far in the front line, and Mia (who I trained on that squad) scores a Crit on Zihark, killing him on the last turn of defense. I decided to continue without him. Next chapter (3-E), I had Mia go up the middle route, and set her up to take on Nolan, who was a big threat of that group. Nolan gets the Colossus proc against Mia and kills her despite his low hit chance, possibly out of revenge for Zihark. For the sake of the arc, I went on without her.
  21. I disagree with this, Azama's promotion to Great Master is too good. It gives him +8 Strength after starting with a base Strength of 9, meaning he can function as a combat unit on turns when he doesn't need to heal. He also joins at level 7, meaning he doesn't need much work to reach promotion. Besides, Setsuna exists, and I already went over why she's awful earlier in the topic.
  22. If I wanted to discuss other units in Radiant Dawn who are usually viewed as bad, then I would've named the topic "Worst Radiant Dawn Unit?", or something along those lines. My phrasing when asking the question initially was focused solely on Meg and Fiona, with the keyword being "both", as in 2 people and only 2 people. I brought up Shadow Mir earlier for that reason. They have a history of doing that on discussion topics, and usually go off topic. I felt this was done for bit, and was trying to stop it from going further off track. I'd rather have shut down this topic without resorting to verbal policing, but that's not something a topic creator can do... for some reason.
  23. I said to go make a separate topic if you guys wanted to discuss Astrid and Lyre, because this isn't the topic for those two.
  24. It would indeed, and I don't want Shadow Mir to derail this topic again. The Meg/Gwendolyn comparison went on longer then it should've for not being the point of this topic, so if you all wish to discuss units like Lyre or Astrid, someone go make a separate topic.
