Andyboy505
I try to edit my units in nightmare modules but when I go into chapter unit editor instead of 0x01 being Erika it's just a bunch of muddled up information like her name is Bandit and her level is 148 or something. What should I do?
Alfred Kamon
Unit's personal number =/= units' numbers in the chapters For example Seth in the Prologue is 0x0 and in chapter 1 is 0x1, but his character number is 0x02. Anyway search for Eirika in your chapter and edit her coordinates or her starting items or whatever. You should also use the character editor and the class editor. I'm just telling 'cause I don't know how far you're into hacking and what you're trying to edit specifically. Andyboy505
This is what it looks like when I enter the chapter unit editor. I'm so confused.
Aleph
The hell? You know how to use a camera but you don't know how to use the Print Screen key to store a picture of your desktop into your clipboard? First result from Googling details the process pretty damn well at the time of this writing and probably will for a while. Celice
The hell? You know how to use a camera but you don't know how to use the Print Screen key to store a picture of your desktop into your clipboard? First result from Googling details the process pretty damn well at the time of this writing and probably will for a while. Not everyone has grown up being computer savvy. I know several friends who would love to mess around with their favorite game, but also don't have that intuition around computers about what they could do (take a printscreen shot) or are confused in what they're supposed to be editing (this Nightmare issue). It's best to be charitable in cases like these. I'd be confused by that Nightmare load out myself, as it looks like obvious garbage data being loaded, instead of the stats the poster is looking for. Hopefully someone with experience can come in and explain the issue a little clearer.
Aleph
That's why I demonstrated how I would find that solution myself rather than simply giving it to him (as best I could, considering that I actually had the solution stored in the back of my head from...you know, trying the key). I was also unusually verbose with my description of the print screen key. It's like you didn't read my post. Celice
It would be helpful, if that's what the poster was asking for help with. Their image gets their issue across just fine as it is--and conveys exactly their issue. A lesson in how to do a screencap isn't really relevant at all to their issue. Primefusion
But it does help us help them. As for the problem at hand: Are you certain you're using a clean, English ROM? If it's a Japanese or European version you'll likely get a jumbled mess.
Aleph
[celice themed shenanigans] Sir are you suggesting that a common utility such as capturing screenshots is rare enough for simple advice regarding its use to be unwarranted when the subject is flagrantly relevant? [stuff] Is element 0x0 usually garbage data? I suppose the module could be misaligned. Wouldn't be the first time an old module was incorrect. Primefusion
Is element 0x0 usually garbage data? It is for stuff like character data arrays. But the screen provided shows one of the chapter unit editors. Those start at the first unit in the chapter.
Aleph
Are you sure it doesn't look like it does
Primefusion
Hang on. .zip Did you unzip the ROM yet? Doesn't look like it.
Aleph
Good catch. This is why you should upload your pictures not-sideways. Also I saw the (E), immediately cringed and looked away in disgust. (E) is NOT (U). The module probably wouldn't work even if the ROM is unzipped.
