RIP Original Shaggy Rodgers :(

I just learned that Casey Kasem, the original voice of the famous cartoon character Norville "Shaggy" Rodgers from Scooby Doo died recently. :( And there was a bunch of shitty drama over it too.

Kasem voiced Shaggy for decades until he switched to the role of Shaggy's dad. He made Shaggy such a fun and hilarious character.

RIP man. You were one of the best things about my childhood favorite show. You will be missed. Shaggy would miss you too. (Although Matthew Lillard does a great job voicing Shaggy these days)

Today I learned Shaggy had a real name.

Same.

He'll be missed. The original Scooby Doo played a special part of my childhood, and Shaggy made me laugh the most.

It's cool to see that some people watch(ed) this very old cartoon series. It started in 1969, if I'm not wrong.

It was a part of my childhood. Unfortuntely the original series isn't on German TV at the moment. Only the "What's new Scooby Doo?" is on TV, which I dislike because it doesn't have the nostalgic flair of the original.

I really loved the theme of "Scooby Doo, where are you?" and Shaggy. He always was so funny and anxious. Velma or Daphne have to motivate him with "Scooby Snackys" (=dog food).

Unfortunately Shaggy was misused by the famous US-rapper, who named hisself after Shaggy from the cartoon series.

This original theme by the Archies is so catchy:

Well, did you guys know Scooby himself has a real name too? His first name is Scoobert. In addition, Fred's full first name is Frederick. It's funny how all three male members of the gang go by nicknames. :P

And I didn't really like What's New, Scooby Doo? either. It really didn't have the nostalgic flare of the original and it turned Fred into an idiot.

But no matter, I'll never forget Shaggy going "ZOINKS!!" all the time lol. Kasem deserves to go down in history forever!

Wow... Really enjoyed the original Scooby-Doo as a kid. After selling all my VCRs, I'm trying to find all of my old episodes/films on DVD, and am happy to say I've found most of the films, but I'm sadly still missing alot episodes.

RIP Casey Kasem.

Oh man, Casey Kasem died? Maaaaan, all these great voice actors dying. I fear for Welker and Cullen now, too.

R.I.P. Kasem. You can do your disc jockey radio and voice acting stuff with the Macho Man Randy Savage now. And just to top it off:

A couple of interesting Casey Kasem stories: At one point, he got very upset about a character named Abdul Fakkadi (modeled after Muhammar Khaddafi) in a country known as Carbombya, saying it was an Arab stereotype. He wrote a letter to Joe and Tom. Another time, I started asking him about Rock & Roll. After all, this was the "America's Top Forty" guy and we were all bored. He kind of looked at me and said, "I don't like Rock & Roll."

That was the end of the conversation.

From an interview with Flint Dille.
