Mr.Night here with another LP for a fe7 hack.

which one? Project dondon this time.

Why? because back when I was lurking the forums, I have heard of this hack and how hard it can be. since I am a sucker for all games hard, I naturally wanted to play it. played the first chapter and lost 3 fucking times. I just had to LP so once more y'all can enjoy my suffering. Dondon has told me there is only 4 and the chapters get worse in design but I still think its worth playing and will keep that in mind as I play.

so for this run, yolo standards which means no savestate.

Edit: rage, pure savestate abuse rage because this game is a middle finger to vanilla gba rules

Now let's begin.

Ch. 1 pt 1, Learning how to LTC

you see, this chapter's theme is to hurry the fuck up and LTC this bitch, the best strat for this is to do shit while counter killing. Placing these tough looking assholes near the exit makes one fear to rush in, i.e wasting a turn to see if you die. Then wasting even more turns killing them off while reinforcements hit you from the sides and back. Really creates the pressure that this chapter sets the mood for. bravo.

since you like the hard stuff (hurrr), you might like it. it's only finished to chapter 3, though. chapter 4 should be done scripting-wise, but it's basically an unfinished product.

also the soldiers are like... lance using warriors. i don't have spriting skills and the soldier sprite is just a placeholder.

Yeah, this chapter is a massive amalgamation of trial-and-error difficulty, pain, and just general BS. If you haven't already cleared the chapter(although I kinda doubt you have) some tips for you:

*All the prisoner characters have some sort of talk that lets them get a free weapon(I think), though you probably already know this

*Eventually, SIEGE TOME users start coming from the center area

*The reinforcements seem to pretty much never stop, lasting it out isn't an option, but just running around and grabbing people takes too long, and enemies have already flooded in from the front and back, so...

Honestly, I tried for a few hours and couldn't beat this chapter, WITH savestate abuse. If you find an actual solution, I hope you share the specifics with us.

i have an actual solution sitting around on my hard drive somewhere i think

also the most helpful suggestion that i have for you in this chapter is to use the rescue, give/take, and drop commands

I think I've reliably beaten this in the past with around... 18 turns? idr the lowest turn though it was way better than that and definitely not by me; I don't know if I personally managed to get it down to 12 or that was paperblade

That was a while ago but iirc you didn't do any changes since the last time I played iirc I don't think I have all my logs anymore tho

That's because the chapter counters savestate abuse hard (not sure if that was on purpose), I say this because there are many times where I could see if I kept trying to reload from a save from where I was already screwed, the game would have been very hard to clear. Anyway I am proud of the run I came up with.

ch.1 pt motherfucking 4, my pro strats come to life.

back to the beginning.

same strats more or less. get barth super fast, then trade spears to kill the hero.

cut this shit off.

counter chip the hero

and get the bow

trade spear back and talk

trade the sword to the general

counter kill this time.

ok this is my left side force. you can see the right side force as barth lure down the warrior.

got the brave silm and some heals.

sins open up the door so I don't have to

open up another door while getting in position to lure that other warrior.

the forcements.

such kills, much tactical skills.

boss shows up and I get dorcas.

oh, that's why you got locked up. what a simple man.

save the manleader

serra will always be left with 3 hp here.

Thoughts on this chapter alone:

Ok I have to agree, its very trial and error heavy while being super punishing for wasting turns/movements with your units. However once you get whats going on, it pushes you to make every move count and when it works, makes you feel like you are the clever shit. Pretty Solid for teaching one how to LTC and the tension of the chapter was felt all the way which is super cool.

I think there is one spot on the top right side of that room, I tried to went for it but its really hard. I have to plan that shit out I think or its simply impossible. not ready to admit defeat just yet.

whelp i think my run just ended.

the farina part seems impossible. I tried just about everything except rng abuse to dodge 89 hits. The problem is the two spear dudes can do 11 damage each and placed in such a way I will always get hit by one of them. this is important because farina has 31 hp and the heroes around here do 10. anyway I move to aggro three of them equals into 31 hp. Tried to aggro only 2 of them but the other two are always in range of killing off lilina and I can't rescue her because the dudes will double and kill farina. I even tried to use serra +physic staff and it just doesn't work because the turn after that, they all will always be in range.

if there is a way to beat this, Iet me know, because I fully admit defeat. Otherwise I will end this lp and lp something else.

I only RNG abuse in m LP's because losing 25 minutes of commentating time and having to replay sucks.

the farina segment is designed to be beatable without RNG abuse. i think there are basically only 2 sequences of actions that will guarantee success as long as farina doesn't miss, which rarely happens.

i do kind of regret that that segment of the chapter is by far the most unforgiving, and it also lasts for about 6 turns, so it's hard to test out a strategy because you have to play out the rest of the chapter simultaneously.
