Lances are great.

Not only do they have reach...

And not only are they used by uber hot fashionistas and cute af farm grills...

But you can also name someone "Lance" and it'd be considered a completely normal name.

Can't do that with the other weapons.

Ever tried naming someone "Axe" or "Sword"?  How about "Tome", "Staff", "Beaststone", or "Bow"?

It just doesn't work.

"Dagger" doesn't count 'cuz it's in, like, two-or-three games.  So those of you who played Final Fantasy IX that are telling me that it could be used as a name can go on and GIT.

Picking between swords and lances is like picking one of your kids.

I guess I find the sword just a liiiiitle more romantic overall.

Well, actually ...

Tome (Tomé) is a fairly common name here, but is usually nicknamed Tom.

Axe can become Axell or Ax, so..2/5?

Bow (Bol) should not be so difficult to find.

You might even find someone called Staff.

Sword and Beaststone's seem to be the only ones missing here.

That's a fair point.

Though I'll preempt myself by saying "axel" doesn't count because "axle" is an entirely different thing.

Bowbowbow counts, but not Axel Rose.

I'm gonna put on my critical lenses and ask you...  Is that even pronounced like "Tome"?  Because while I'm not familiar with Portuguese or Spanish, I know enough about other European languages to know that letters with accents are pronounced differently.  And that to me seems like more of a "Tommy" than a "Tome", judging purely from pronunciation.

I will give you staff if only because I just recently remembered there was a Mii in Wii Sports named "Staff".  I remember this because my brother and I would often joke that how his full name is "Staph Infection".

Can't find a man named sword, but Blade...

I don't care if it's statistically unreliable, I'll take that Axe any day of the week. It's easily the best weapon when put to the sound of a heavy metal album, doubly so when dragons are involved, which Fire Emblem has a lot of.

I'm an Axe man, though I'm willing to acknowledge Lances are objectively the best.

I'm an axe man too, but lances are by far the best.

What is your favorite?

swords, especially the magic ones. that's mostly because i like hybrid warrior/mage classes such as Dark Knights.

Tomé would be something like ''Tomeh''. So..Tommy is out of question.
